dangerous brain
OK thats a walk away from box that is!!!!!!! £1200 for a box thats already been rebuilt once and is now making noises again thats been in a high powered car---one that needs a stronger box obviously than the one thats in it!! Hmmm wonder why they need a stronger box?? Would it be because they toasted it and needed to rebuild it and now its showing signs of being toasted again?? A 99 box with only 39000 miles on it should no way need reconning 2000 miles ago.

Alex
Or it could be a retard with no concept of how agricultural the box is naturally...I drove one without all of the insulation and covers between me and the prop shaft, and the nioses it makes are truely disturbing! (But I'm sure you're right it's a knackered box - Mark @ Pheonix has a contact for rebuilding them...)
Gaz Walker
We've also rebuilt a Getrag before...
b.weeks
Gaz - out of interest - do you have the components to build a Getrag box from scratch? Has anyone ever ordered the parts from Toyota? Are the prices astronomical? (Waiting for a 6-speed box myself)
Gaz Walker
I can get them from Toyota, next day almost. They are not cheap at all. Just the parts to properly refurb a box are around £1k, a gear is £130 IIRC. Gaz.
b.weeks
How about the parts to replace an auto? Any ideas of cost there Gaz? I have seen prices of around £2200 for a second hand Getrag so assuming a fair whack more from Toyota themselves ... (I assume there's not a full aftermarket solution out there). PS Has the Carbing Strut Brace with master brake cylinder strut come in?

Theres plenty of cheap autobox's kicking around though, I'd just put another one in A new Getrag box from Mr T is £5k + VAT Any day for the brace Ben, will know more tomorrow. Gaz.
