Minor oil leak - possible causes?

Hi all,

just had my MoT done, it passed (yey!), but got an advisory for an oil leak coming from "somewhere on the passenger side of the engine", apparently. It can't be leaking much as I've never even seen so much as a drop of oil on the floor when I've left it running for any period of time, there isn't any in my garage, and there wasn't any on the floor when it had been running on & off at the Mot station for about half an hour!

I'll keep and eye on the level & top it up if needed (of course) and I'm hoping to get it to CW in the next week for an oil change anyway so he can hopfully find out exactly what it is (and with a bit of luck, fix it!), but in the meantime I wondered what are the likely culprits??

Cheers!

Steve

oil pressure sensor?

It lives behind the aircon compressor and power steering pump. Quite fiddly to get at but the sensor is cheap £10-15.

or possibly front crank seal weeping slightly......

like you say keep a daily (minimum) check on the oil, and keep a litre or so with you in case the low level light comes on, if it does, stop immediately look for leakage and use the spare oil to top up to get you home to a garage (don't try and go too far)
