Blackie
Hi Guys, I'm the driver of a 2JZ-GE powered IS300 auto, currently undergoing a Rotrex C38 supercharger conversion. Problem comes with the mapping.....even in E-shift mode, the gearbox won't run all the way through the rev range right up to the redline and keeps kicking down, which is a real PITA for mapping. On one of the US forums I've had a suggestion that there is a shift lock for 4th gear, but no one is sure how to do it. Any comments or suggestions gratefully received. BTW some awesome looking Supe's at JAE this weekend! Mike
garethr
I don't know if this applies to other, later, models, but the workshop manual for the Lexus SC (Toyota Soarer) details gearbox diagnostics which start with unplugging the electrical connector to the gearbox. This means that the gears must be changed manually, and there is no kickdown. It might be worth finding out if there is anything similar for the IS, (but it's probably completely different for the later gearbox). It's something that only seems to affect the later gearboxes in the Supra and IS - like you say Gareth the earlier boxes have the electrical connector which can be unplugged. We are thinking that there is possibly something in the engine management that can be disabled electronically while the car is being mapped on the RR. If there is a solution it'll save a whole load of RR time (and money!)
Blackie
OK....apparently there is a pin on the ECU which is a 4th gear lock. If the pin can be located on the ECU diagrams it may be possible to temporarily disable it.
