LeeT
dont forget to unbolt the torque convertor before you start pulling at the gearbox to get it out. Apart from remembering that, its quite a straight forward job

LeeT
make sure you fill the TC with oil before fitting.

captainchaos
is that stuff any good or nee good
jim_supra
Apparently you should only use the Toyota Type IV, the gearbox will run alot better with it. Edit: I have heard of people using dexron II, but it makes gear changes sloppy etc. couldn't say wether it would harm the box in any way though. JohnK
Get it as high off the ground as possible, >18 inches to the sills.
captainchaos
got it off the deck how in the hell do you get to the top bolts?
JohnK
With about 4 feet of 1/2 inch drive extensions. You need to go in from the prop end over the top of the box. Lower the back end of the box slightly. A wobble extension helps as does someone with small hands to help guide it on from the top.
b_have
Long ext post and torch. Have fun releasing all the electronic connectors. I've done this a few times on axle stands and always say never again!
tDR
Ack it's an easy job - done 2 with my Dad in just over a week Jack the engine sump (block of wood between jack and sump) up a little as near to the front of the car as possible once you've unbolted the prop and tranny mount to give you better access to the top bellhousing bolts. Drain the box too as it saves you a whole 2KG lol (you can only get out what's in the autobox sump). As mentioned, roughly 2x long 1/2" drive extensions and 2x short ones is about the right length to let you unbolt the top bellhousing bolts from the back of the box where it joins the prop. Only use Toyota Type IV fluid. HTH, Brian.
Jake
1/4" drive extensions Bri? Do you mean 3/8ths? I wouldn't think ¼ drive would be man enough, would it?
