MarkTheBoy
Hi Everybody, Just wanted to see what you all thought: My boss has decided that it is about time I retired my old Renault Goona' company car and has asked me to start having a look for something to replace it. Unfortunately there are some requirements which limit my choices (which is where I get a bit stuck for ideas) These are: Four Door Preferably Diesel or at least economical Under £20k Must be a new car Must have a half decent boot, nothing too big tho. I dont want an estate and i'd rather not go for a passat or a mondeo. I was hoping that he might go for an Audi A3 or something similar but heard that you don't get a lot for your money. Any thoughts or recommendations welcome
Rayman
While you mentioned the audi a3, my mums just gone for a new one as she company leases and the lease was up, she's just ordered the 4 door version of the A3, i think its pretty new out. She's gone for the A3 sportback with s-line kit, s-line seats, 18" alloys as standard on the S-line model. All the toys. The 1.6 is very economical as we have one now on our current lease, its also lower tax and insurance than the 2.0 s-line. Its not mega quick but 10.9 to 60mph is enough for a company car. They also do a diesel and quattro 3.6 We took a look at it in the show room, it looked fantastic, and i think you get quite a lot for your money, we also looked at BMW's too but there was 10K difference in the respective models. The audi a3 sportback 1.6 s-line came to 21K i think. We ordered it in white it looked stunning in the showroom! Anyway thats my recommendation but if you can stretch budget to a BMW they are fantastic although the 1 series is very expensive for what you see, the audi i mentioned is much better value for money! RobSoarer2.5TT
Mitsi Warrior I had ordered one for my new car prior to loosing my license, not the new sahpe the older shape which they are still making and are 3K cheaper than the alternative new one. Very pimp, and a lot of car for your pounds

RobSoarer2.5TT
Yer can't go wrong with VW 20K will buy a high spec Focus, or a decent Astra, Megan etc you can get any high spec, middle of the road car for that kind of money, it's a very open field. Just out interest are you going all out company car or is it a scheme were you "Take a Loan" out throught the company thus avoiding the tax implications???? Do you have the option of car allowance????

Jezz
I've got the petrol warrior. The L200 Triton. Had to import it from Nz though. 3000v6 converted to lpg. Goes like poo off a shovel and sounds the nuts. Excellent vehicle.
Branners
We had a pool VW Gold TDI (with the red T) and the support team loved it. Nice and quick, decent fuel economy and my team are all petrol heads so its got to be pretty good. I might change to one when my Citroen falls apart. Homer
Gold TDi highly recommended here Nice to drive, lots of torque in the mid range but dead top end like all diesels. Well put together and comfortable. The only thing I don't like is the dash covering in the new models, very plasticy

outatime
Just out interest are you going all out company car or is it a scheme were you "Take a Loan" out throught the company thus avoiding the tax implications???? Do you have the option of car allowance???? Does your place operate a 'take a loan' scheme? Can you elaborate a bit, how does it work? I'd like to run my Supra on the company, but assume the tax would be astronomical. A car allowance is an option, but liable to tax. I take it the company buys the car, then you have a loan from the company to the value of the car? Is the loan taken from your wages with negligable or no interest?
