Mas
many people go for Cliffords, but its bit pricy and you get as much if you buy a TOAD 606 , I have this kit in both of my cars its CAT 1 and many say its even better than the cliford, the guy who fitted mines has a M3 and 911 and he uses the same kit for his cars. cost you £250 fitted with certificatebut clifford the cheapest will be the 650 consept and its about £450 and still a CAT1 for paying £200 more. I take it you bought the Toad then

Alarm more important no doubt I got the one that beep when people get close. Make them think twice before check it out for anything to steal, doesn't stop any determined individuals but definitely helps.

Had the clifford 650 on my MR2 , but cant see much difference now that have the Toad on my Sup.
Matt Harwood
The Toad is a very good stable alarm system, but personally, I'd have a Clifford every time. The Cliffords warn-away is much better, and you get Blackjax with the clifford too. Not to mention extra channel outputs and the ability to have a good remote start

Not to mention extra channel outputs and the ability to have a good remote start I wanted a Toad but they stocked clifford 650 fitted for £349 but pay day next week and just went for a laserline Cat 1. As I said as long as the insurance is happy then I am happy and if it get stolen then so be it a thief can always get passed any alarm if they really want too. Swampy442
Mine has a Toad alarm, but no certificate. So went to a local alarm specialist, paid 40 quid for a check up, a hand written note on A4 was my certificate and Sky accepted it!

So paid the £35 to get alarmed serviced and get told that it was useless not even a Cat
Matt Harwood
That does piss me off. We do inspections for £25 and issue propper certificates. There really is no need to charge any more than that. And, if it's not Thatcham approved, we don't charge anything...

You can buy Toad or Clifford stickers if you want with the fortune you save. :) CAT is more to do with the installation than the actual alarm. Black wires, hidden splicing into existing, differnt routes around dash etc etc
Matt Harwood
Laserline are good. I wouldn't really say it doesn't matter what name is on it. There are a fair few crap ones out there, and I'm sorry, I wouldn't touch Gemini with a barge pole

They, as a brand, are certainly not known for reliability withing the trade. Over the last 10 years, they're on they're third UK distribution company. Possibly why they're so cheap now...
