Just found this............

"Horsetail is difficult to eradicate because it spreads via deep tubers or roots and also via spores. It is one of the oldest forms of plant life and these spores give rise to moss like plants which produce sperm and need damp conditions to swim to fertilise the female. So usually growth of Horsetail is a sign that the area is prone to dampness.

Eliminating this weed is not easy and will take much persistence, continual removal will work - eventually! Regular close mowing will exhaust the rhizomes, but the patch must be isolated as growth will re-emerge from an adjoining area. Check early in the year for the cone-bearing shoots to stop the production of spores and remove any of the branched shoots later. In the garden, sowing turnips in the area has been shown to inhibit the growth of shoots, probably due to an inhibiting substance produced by the turnip; this would need to be done for a few seasons to exhaust the rhizomes.

It is resistant to most weedkillers, but Glyphosate may have some success after repeated treatment".

Don't know if it's much use mate. ;)

its flowering and its at least 10 feet tall !

now this is a plant / weed thats not allowed to grow in this country,. its sap,. either by cutting the plant, or breaking a leaf etc will cause 1st degree burns on the flesh if exposed to sunlight ,.

When we got that at my old office the health and safety people made us close half of the car park until some special chaps could come and remove it - your neighbour needs to get this sorted!

its as tho someone pays rent for the place but doesnt actualy stay there,. theres never anyone home ... last year ok,. the council discovered an outlet pipe from a Bog was clean broken away on the outside of the building - hence pure human poo was just landing in the garden - it had created a mini mountain 4 feet tall....

the council workers had what looked like space suits on :)

Sounds like the BBC will be round soon for a new series of 'Life Of Grime'. :D

i expect they will, the neighbour is actualy aprox 25 years old,. a skinhead,. who appears once a month with a suitcase,.. and leaves about 1 hour later,. again with the suitcase.

yet when the council workers phoned up the rent payer - a female with pram turned up...?

plus theres around 14 TV sets scattered around the front garden.:(
