Welcome!

Patience is your friend whilst looking, I did exactly the same around 3 years ago and took about 5 months just keeping an eye on what was available, and then 7 months actively searching like yourself.

I found as soon as I stated my budget I got quite a few offered to me of varying quality and build, some weren't actually listed for sale yet either.

Enjoy the search!

As Crossy says it can be done. It can be done the right way or easily go horribly wrong. Lots of speculative types come on briefly with a tell me what you have got which universally isn't well received and they fade away quickly never to be heard of again. Those who engage with serious questions and a desire to have a look at the car even with those not selling to go over the weak points (of which there are very few) to the good points (of which there are a great many) tend to find what they want with patience and respect for the owners cars even for those they do not in the end purchase. I'd recommend you go read the Crossy give me a car thread from 3 years agao as a pointer to one of the few successful approaches to buying the car they always wanted.

As Rider has said, there's a lot of good info on here, I had completely forgotten about my "searching for" thread, it's the link below, and theres a great amount of info on there that everyone of knowledge contributed to:

If you state your location aswell, you may get lucky like I did and have a member offer to show you around their Supra to explain what to look out for. Rider actually offered to show me around his, and he was only 15 minutes from me which was ideal, I learnt a lot that day and actually managed to source exactly what I was looking for whilst avoiding the very few that could have turned out to be a lot of work.
