100%, when my NA should be on full defrost, a fair amount of air still comes out of the driver's vents, presumably due to the deteriorated foam, so it is something that i'd do if my HVAC is ever out of the car (let's hope that will be by choice, not necessity!). You've got an Incredible eye for detail, when you get her finished it will be as if it rolled off the production line, if not better!

I've been waiting on a load of aircon parts to finish the heater box.

I had managed to source what I thought would be a direct replacement for the evaporator.  This was Denso p/n 471-1205.

Unfortunately this transpired to be LHD specific.  You can see the difference in the below image (LHD on the left).  The pipework is approx 1cm different.

It may well be possible to fit this to a RHD Supra but it would probably involve bending some pipes.

Instead I managed to find someone selling a genuine Toyota evaporator p/n 88501-14241.  This part is shown discontinued, so it was a good find.

This is a direct replacement but I've not been able to fit it as I'm waiting for a aircon seal kit, compressor and expansion valve to arrive from Rock Auto.

I've also been rebuilding my front subframe. The main aluminium part had been aquablasted and the rear section had been media blaster, galvanised and powdercoated.  This unfortunately meant I had to recut some threads, which wasn't the easiest thing to do.

Outside of the main subframe sections, two plates on the front subframe, refurbished ABS sensors and ABS inductor rings everything else has been replaced with new parts.

Barry (rider) will be relieved to hear I was able to use my press again to assembled the hubs.

I don't know mate.  There are a fair few extensive rebuilds being done these days.

If nothing else it will be the longest Supra rebuild by the time it's done!

Nope, decidedly underwhelming daily. It's a Pug 3008 GT.  Had it since new in 2018. It's a great car.  Loads of tech and the massage function on the drivers seat is a real bonus.

I (we) are looking at getting another car next year, this should be a sports car.  The wife and I really like the newer shaped Audi R8 and I'd love a V10 plus. But nothing is decided yet.

Not as underwhelming as my new acquisition!  What a beauty 😄    Nice to have something simple and with a roomy engine bay to have a nice tinker, and a 'lovely' contrast to the Supra. As for 'tech' er it has electric mirrors and aircon 🙃

R8 should be lovely I'm trying to stop my almost annual need to swap a car and the three I now have I really like, just need to shift to getting a buzz from refreshing/modding them all and not swapping all the time.

It's very good for it's age yeah, little simple non interference 7afe lean burn lol!  Just an 'of the era' Toyota to pootle around in 🙂

Yeah 6 series is ok, it makes me nervous though, CCC (idrive/display thing) needs to be sent off to repair, cam cover seals to do (they are renowned for leaking oil and coolant), most small jobs are a mission on it but I still rate it as one of the few value for money V8's left 👍  

It's a good mix, although a fresh import Caldina with a minty underside caught my eye the other day tempting me back to 100% Toyota!

This is the kind of car you want if civilisation goes down hill or if there is a zombie apocalypse, these things run forever if looked after.

Well you can hold the zombies 😄, but yes I agree it has potential to be nursed through more years and the bits are cheap and plentiful as there is zero demand for something so old and 'tragic' lol. Will test even my Kudos/self respect meter over time I think but it's fun for now. I'm only the third owner, the lady I got it from had it nearly 20 years!! and it's had over 15 oil changes in its 90K miles.

Apologies to Matt for the thread diversion.......be really good to see that Supra completed, I doubt there is another Supra the owner has put so many personal man hours into.

I'm not sure why I've tended to swap, it sort of reignites the fire/interest I think. Initially it was the progressing from small engined bangers when I was young and insurance was an issue, then some mildly sporty cars to the leap to the Supra. I think I like the chase of a value purchase, the window shopping and potential gem spotting, I like to think I can spot wheat from the chaff (doesn't always work!) and gravitate to the currently unloved whether through badge/age/looks/reliability. The Supra was for years (badge), the BMW 6 series was marmite from new (looks) and seen as a bork fest (half true) and the Avensis (badge age and looks!!) but for me it's say twice the car a Ford escort of that era is at half the price (i'll never get the Ford tax thing!?).

Ultimately I'm prudent/cautious (ok tight!) but with an appreciation of the qualities some of these unpopular cars give.
