Long day today but lots of progress. We installed:

- Prop shaft

- TRD diff

- TT ABS driveshafts

- Clutch slave cylinder

- Clutch master cylinder (Now fully fitted)

- Clutch pedal (now fully fitted)

- Shifter

- OEM black carpet

- Fuel feed line (tank flexi and line to fuel filter)

Kev also sanded, epxoyed and painted around the clutch master cylinder in the engine bay. There was some surface rust appearing due to it being exposed to the elements for so long. It’s noticeable that’s it’s been painted but much better than having rust showing! Still a few areas like this to clean up in future.

We also removed the fuel tank today. This was necessary to resolve some more of the bodges done. It allows access to install the OEM fuel lines and replace a damaged fuel pump wiring loom. It’s not possible to do the loom properly with the tank in.

Now waiting on a fuel return line from Toyota as well as all of the brake and fuel pipe clips (which had all been removed from the car for some reason 🤷‍♂️ ). After this the tank can go back in. We might also paint some undercoat on the tank shield as it’s in surprisingly good condition.

All the driveline bolts still need to be fully torqued but we can’t do that until we get the car back down at the front, but that’s for next weekend. Hopefully.

have you checked the rear brake lines that like to corrode.  they are likely knackered.

Yes, I was expecting them to be corroded but they're in great condition. I suspect they were changed out not long before the car was taken off the road, in fact its the only line I don't need to change! I'm replacing all other fluid lines in the car (Brake, clutch, fuel, water)

Updates from the last couple of days. Nothing significant, @evinX and I are just working through the list of things to fix/replace/source/install

1) Fuel tank has been cleaned and is installed

2) OEM Fuel return line is installed (not the easiest job!)

3) Fuel tank guard has been cleaned, wax oiled and installed. Looks almost like new!

4) All drivetrain bolts are torqued up

5) Car is now off the sleepers and back on axle stands so handbrake has been fitted

6) Arm rest is installed

7) Kev has fitted one of his gearbox conversion wiring kits and safely isolated the rest of the unused auto box wiring. We’ll put some P-clips in to support these next week.

8. UK airbox is in. It’s been a mission to source the parts for this and huge thanks to @Big Supes for supplying the all important MAF (amongst other things!) at a decent price 😎

9) Started cleaning up the engine bay, this will be a long job as there’s a lot of corroded parts, however I’m working through sourcing and replacing these as time progresses

10) Cleaned up the one piece exhaust. Will fit this while I wait for oem cat pipes to arrive. It’s huge 😂 Well made though and appears to be full stainless, must have cost a fair bit to have this made.

11) Filled the gearbox with Motul gear 300 75w90.

Next is the brake repairs/replacement which we will do next weekend.

Other than that it’s going to be a wait for parts. I have a huge order coming in next month from Amayama and another order for at least 200 items will go into Toyota next week 🫣 This project is consuming parts like crazy and it isn’t cheap or easy to get many of them! It’s incredible how many bits are missing from the car, by the end of it I think we’ll be around 500+ individual items installed.

Shes not far off now. Theres still a fair few bits to tick off but nothing major like the last few weeks. Once the brakes are fitted most of the heavy work is out off the way really.

While im here, anyone got one of these laying around? It covers the fuel and rear lines further up the chassis. The car dosent have one and they are discontinued. Would be nice to have as much parts on the car as it came from the factory with

Already done mate, it's fitted and working. It's got a UK engine in it so needed the UK ECU.

What you doing about all the UK traction control stuff? Or will it just work with the different jspec facelift rear brake line setup?

That is one of the question marks at the moment (as well as ABS). I don't want the stock traction control to work so will disable it if possible. ABS is needed so if it plays up I'll need to change to a UK ABS unit and make twin lines to the rear brakes.

Edited to add: When we did the fault check on the car years ago it passed the ABS check, no errors or warning lights. So I'm hoping it will work. Time will tell!

I'm back from years in the wilderness and occasional sporadic recent lurking just to say lovely RSP Homer!!!  I should really get on with putting mine back on the road.

Hey Steve! Long time mate. I always wondered if you still have your car, that’s great to hear 😎 Hope you’re keeping well 👍

I'd never sell it, I just need to persuade my local council to let me build a decent garage (they turned down my grand plan for a 2 story 4 car garage, can't think why!) and then I expect to bring it back to full glory.  Your recent activity is making me jealous in a good way - maybe it'll motivate me to actually get on with it!!

Planners… don’t get me started on them 🤦‍♂️
It took a kick in the backside from  @evinX to get me restarted on this, hopefully this thread will give some motivation. A lot will be happening this weekend 😎

So short update today. Kev came over as always and we got the rear brakes installed.
We ran into a bit of a snag with the rear lines as they’re rusted solid. I’m going to need to put in some new lines tomorrow.
New handbrake shoes and internals have been fitted as the old shoes were quite worn.

I’m leaving the used discs and pads on for now, there’s plenty of life left in them. However they will be replaced once the car is resprayed.

We also got the car repositioned and have the front raised back up to do the front brakes, front coil overs, clutch fluid bleed, replace engine oil and finish the fuel lines tomorrow. Also we hope to install the exhaust but it looks like the flange is not aligning to the down pipe… may need some fabrication done.

If all goes well we aim to try and start the car for the first time in 5 years.

Bit of a frustrating day today. Ran into a problem changing the fronts shocks of all things…

We can’t seem the get the replacement shocks in. The arm is all the way down and the ARB is disconnected (had to cut the drop links off). So we thought, undo the long bolt that connects the upper arm to the chassis, except it won’t undo and clicks like you’re trying tighten it with a torque wrench. We’re wondering if the bolt is snapped in the middle. If anyone has any ideas any help would be appreciated.

I’ve added a picture of the bolts, screws, clips that I’m using for the interior and engine fittings. These are considerably cheaper than Toyota and work just the same. Each box is between £8-14.

Other than that we did get one of the front brakes on with new goodridge lines.

Also started reinstalling the interior. Most is in that I can do for now. Realised the centre seat belt buckles are missing along with some of the seatbelt bolts, I’ll get some new ones from Toyota.

Fuel tank side of the fuel lines are buttoned up, not sure what to do with the breather line. The entire charcoal system has been removed and I don’t want to have to spend £100’s to put all the lines back in. Wonder if I can cap it off?

Also drained the engine oil, it was almost like new so that’s a good sign. No fuel smell and no sign of any shiny things or gunk.

Regarding getting the replacement damper in, I just changed over on the UK car the dampers from stock to Bilstein B6 which I had to lever the lower arm down quite abit further to get them in. ARB’s removed plus the upper arm bolt removed which you are struggling with.

If you believe it has snapped, have you tried putting some pressure with a lever bar on the large washer using the upper arm to lever against whist using a socket to loosen, even if you get some movement it will confirm if it has broken in half.

I’d be surprised if it has as it is quite a larger diameter bolt but always a chance I suppose.

Thanks for the response. That pretty much sums up our thoughts on it. We did start trying that but I’ll give it another go 👍 It was just weird, I’ve removed that bolt a dozen times before on other supras and never had it do this 🤷‍♂️

Just a quick post to demonstrate why this is taking so long. We have to check literally everything. The car had some aftermarket wiring for the positive battery terminal. Decided to pull out the line to the starter to check it and found this.

The oem line had been cut half way along and just taped to a poor quality aftermarket wire. No bolts, solder or anything, just electrical tape.

Wire removed, you can see where the join is:

Years ago I bought a spare oem one  from Keron just in case I needed it. Now installed (minus a battery terminal!)
