Huh.

Here's something we didn't anticipate.

Romain has all but finished now; it turns out that the engine is now FAR too big (and capable) for the turbo, cams and probably FMIC as well. This means that essentially the car will probably make exactly the same power it used to because the turbo - which was obviously near its maximum capacity previously - simply can't flow the amount of air that the new engine can make use of.

What Cams, FMIC are you running ?

So have you stopped at 1.6bar again ?

Had Whifbitz not informed you that this was a possibility when they began building the engine?

Does that means a new turbo, cams and fmic are on the cards?

That will keep you going for now then. Start saving to replace those items before another map or leave it as it and Enjoy ??

Bit of both, I think.

I'll see how it feels on the road (the most important thing after all) before I decide.

Uh, sort of. I knew that the turbo wouldn't be able to get the absolute most from this engine but I didn't expect SUCH a dramatic disparity. The cams being as underwhelming as they are in this set up is a real shock though, from the point of view of it never having been discussed...

Well she is alive again which must give you a smile. Understand the limiting factors are probably giving you some angst. As usual for us boys it's will be another dig in the pockets for required uprated parts. Hope you get it how you want soon.

Still 256 cams with a Whitbitz FMIC. Boost is now 1.7bar with max torque at 4500rpm and max power at 7k rpm

You sir need a precision Turbo! Mine made max torque @ 4200 RPM(640ft/lbs), max power by 6500, (708bhp) It's a stock block & head, with 256/264 staggered HKS cams. It's also a 62mm (6266 Gen 1 Journal).

6466 PT would bring it alive a bit more for sure, torque & power would probably come on harder and sooner as well.

It's the turbo holding the maximum power back Dave, the 264 cams and intercooler are good for 800bhp, we've proven that many times. And don't forget Dyno Dynmanics rolling road will show you a different figure to a Dynapak, you can't compare the 2.

It must feel more torquey and better low down on the road than before surely?
