Can be yes, but where we mounted them is less likely to get damaged in a crash. Most rally cars run them like this also most Subaru's run fuel and brake lines inside there cars from factory stock.

 

I agree, and when they are teflon you won't smell the fuel inside the cabin as well :-) You shouldn't run normal braided fuel lines inside.
