reeceu
right the car hadnt been driven for a good few months and i am starting to drive her again now. i have a 95 n/a auto and have been having some trouble since sgtarting to drive her again. had a misfire problem and was overfuelling (killing my mpg), i then checked the ht leads and found the culprit (well what i thought), it was lead 6 so ordered it and put it in. problems ceased for about 3-4 days and when driving home today noticed the misfire creeping in again. as i accelerated through the revs gently it stuttered and stumbled at around 4k and lost all power, as it stumbled through it, it gained power again but not near the normal power. it also was just throwing fuel away. just wanted to be guided as to what to look for tomorrow, i am going to check all the leads, plugs and distributor cap tomorrow but is there any other things i should check?? also if i need to replace all leads what are advised?? thanks
JustGav
Have you recently jetwashed the engine or perhaps have some water near the plugs?
reeceu
not as far as im aware, the car was recently resprayed so it may have been exposed to the elements without a bonnet but cant be sure

I've been caught out by this before

FireStormNBI
try to open your ecu.. and look for damaged capacitors. they tend to leak over time.. i've just had my ecu repaired and now it runs fine again.. after so many months of troubleshooting, replaced many of the ignition components already, only to find out it was the ECU. Pic of the PCB with the damaged resistors and 2 diodes PCB after removing the damaged parts Edited March 22, 2010 by FireStormNBI while the pic of the car is nice, it's not really needed in this thread and took up a load of screen space (see edit history)
Ian C
Checking the plugs would be a good place to start. Eroded electrodes or a big gap will cause this. 4krpm is peak torque and that area usually shows up weak ignition.
