I did my Psychology dissertation on something similar many moons ago
but it was more about emotions caused by playing aggressive/none-aggressive games. I looked specifically at people playing the game, and I also had a ‘passive observer’ present, and got both reactions.
Basically, it didn't matter what the theme of the game was, the emotions felt at the end of the time were the same (usually aggressive). The only thing I found was that the observers emotions were a little more exaggerated than the player.
If I was doing something on gaming now I would probably be looking at classification and how that works
There's another angle that I am currently looking at as well. You know when you are in the middle of a game, maybe CoD teamplay etc and suddenly someone interupts you, do you feel a rage building up? I know I will be a bit pissed if I'm totally into a game and someone interupts my gaming session.
How far can this aggression lead to? Is it temporary? Will it have a passive side effect (meaning it makes you loose your temper easier). Don't know if this is worth looking at.

Leeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrooooooy Jeeeeeeeeenkins
WoW or ex WoW player I guess?
I agree about the point made about WoW though. I started back in 04 and during the "peak" of my addiction I spent countless hours on the game "grinding" for the High Warlord title in PvP (back when everything is competitive and epics still mean epics).
Got a big slap in the face financial wise so I slowly weaned off the game. It was hard at first and I had few relapse(s?) but I finally managed to beat the addiction.
I don't know why but WoW certainly is a very very addictive game. It's either you don't get into it or is totally sucked into it. You won't believe this but I have seen few dramas in WoW and its not just the kids that need parental supervision, sometimes its the adults themselves that need help.
Btw, I just noticed you can vote repeatedly on the poll site that I linked. Perhaps not so ideal but I guess few people will have the time or intention to F5 and spam votes

Hi mate!
Try to post some pics up, it will help your search.

Now that is a nice car , a very very nice car , lovely colour too !
Aye, its even better in the flesh. Check my garage our should have more pics. The previous two owners are members here too (Dr Blackman and formatzero) and the car is really well looked after.
I'm really impressed by the paintwork. Besides minor stone chips its practically mint! I could have sworn someone repainted it beforehand in the UK.

Hmmmm tempted to sell mine and get a TT
Anyways, welcome mate! You should find what you are looking for with ease if you sign up and advertise. I found mine in 2 weeks.

Hardly an accident is it? I remember the buttock slap "finish him" move well. Would you, as a 17 year old, "play" with a 7 year old in that manor? Throw the book at them!
I still blame the parents.
Well, maybe they want to get a perfect combo finish
Seriously though, I get your point. Perhaps the media is trying to portray certain games as evil?
-
same body as is200 except 4cylinder. yamaha were involved in the engine.personally i would go down the is200 route and supercharge it same hp then roughly 200. i really miss my tte is200 a really nice car in every way.
Or buy a TT Aristo, bigger and faster!

Aye, its very hard to find a reliable review forum these days. There's several other links in the link I linked (!) that points to comments and also other review thread.
But I guess the best way is to go test drive one
I think Toyotas are generally very reliable cars anyway if treated well.

Same with the folks that think violent movies make kids violent. They don't, they are fecked in the head. The movies just give them ideas of sick things to do... not the will to do them (Jamie Bulger).
Agreed. However, sometimes games can indirectly cause harm. For example, these two who killed their 7 year old sis by executing a Mortal Kombat move.
I am pretty sure they have no intention of killing her. It happened by accident. But this accidently wouldn't have happened if they are not exposed to the game in the first place. Perhaps they played MK a lot of times and got familiar with the routine. Perhaps they found it fun and perhaps they thought their sis could simple "respawn" again like in the game or that maybe their sis has 2 lives left.

Big question is, why does it already have 9 bids?
-
I haven't actually owned one but a mate used to have a Beams Altezza. While I don't really agree with the looks its a cracking car. Pretty solid build quality too.
As for reliability have a read here : http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/toyota/altezza/r113013/

Too much of a varied question to get any focused answers.
Do games make folk stab other folk - No
Do games have a bearing on society - Yes, everyone sits in the house on their computers and when they go outside they don't know how to be sociable.
Thats a problem with the internet & gaming though. Everyone on this forum is very vocal on here, try going to a meet though. Very clicky and shy with very few people being outgoing, never mind as "outgoing" as they appear to be on the web.
Internet + Gaming = absolute carnage. Look at the behaviour changes with the folks playing WOW.
Good point mate. I'm still in the early stages so I'm just taking this as an experiment rather than a serious statistical representation for a model answer.
It's easier for people to click on one vote instead of filling up a few pages of a questionnaire
Reason why I post in this forum is because :
1) I know the age group will range from 18+ to beyond. I rather have a mature opinion rather than a possibly biased opinion from a teenager.
2) People here achieves an open intellectual discussion (well most of the time lol) and I would appreciate their input. Plus, seems to be a lot of gamers here too.
3) Large subcriber/community base. I even know there's active female members too.

What impacts on society are you looking at?
There are some on the list at the moment such as :
1) Growing anti social behaviour
2) Health related problems
3) Addiction
4) Provoking violent behaviour
Those are the main points but I am still researching at the moment. It will branch out a little more according on the data to be gathered.
I know that internet polls could be totally off skew and inaccurate but I am not using the results as a definitive source but rather as an experiment to gather people's view on this matter.
-
Sh*t! I didn't get past the first question.
Rofl
Thanks for all the votes guys. Please do correct me if I made any mistakes in the poll as its the first time I'm doing this.
Thank you.

Hi all,
I am currently in the process of writing an essay on gaming and how it impacts the society. As you may be aware, there are some negative news that links gaming to various crimes and tragedies.
Do you think violent games or games that depict violent acts will corrupt society? Do such games somehow drive certain gamers to do something they wouldn't have done otherwise?
I am just interested to know people's general opinion on this matter. Even though you are a casual or non gamer I would still like to hear your vote on this matter.
This is not an strict statistical poll but rather an attempt at gathering people's general opinions using the internet as a medium.
Thanks for all votes offered

I'm interested in pictures of the map reading light mod for the mic.
I have this stereo and am not particularly happy with the current location of the mic. Clipped to the top of the drivers A-pillar.
Mike
Hmmm, I took it off so no pictures I'm afraid. It's a very easy job since the mic itself has a soft rubber thingy to mount the clip. I just pried a section of the light assembly and stuffed the rubber thingy in. It stuck well and never fell off lol. The position gave awesome reception as well since my missus in the passenger seat and my kid at the back can also chat perfectly.
I could have opened the assembly to go for the stealth look but what I did does the job anyway so I'm happy

£80 without the Ipod lead? paypal waiting?
Hmm, I prefer to sell it with the lead since its model dependant. I can't use it on my new Alpine HU due to the difference in adaptor shape.
I have an offer from a member for £90 (Delivered) at the moment but he hasn't sent the payment yet.
If he doesn't reply I would take 90 quid for it so whoever wants will have second dibs

Don't think NA's spin then eh?
Come out in mine il wake you up
Well, so far I'm lucky (touch wood!) and never spun yet but I came from an MR2 turbo so I guess I was extra careful
I guess (and hope) the Sup is easier to recover in an event the tail does step out though?
-
Won't have this problem if you bought an NA instead!
-
Hi all,
Don't have much interest in the MR2 forum so I am hoping to get some here before having to resort to eBay
I have here a HKS SSQV for sale that is almost brand new! Had it for around a month in my MR2 before I sold it off and bought the Sup.
Anyway, it comes partially installed and I have included a black B&Q O ring but its advisable to use the OEM Toyota O ring. All you have to do is pop it in.
According to the box this should fit all models from 1989-1999.
Here are some pics :
There's some minor surface scratches but nothing too serious :
I will also include the original instruction but thats in Japanese. Don't worry though, its easy to install even I can do it.
The kit is still worth around £220 ish if you can find them so I am looking for £160 delivered. Please keep in mind that I use Royal Mail so it might be delayed because of strike. I will give you a tracking number (be sending via 1st Class Recorded) so you can keep an eye on it.
Payments via Paypal only please.
Thank you for looking!

Hi all,
I have here for sale my 3 month old Alpine CDE-103BT HeadUnit.
It is a cracking HU with all the input you can every want. It has Aux in, USB, iPod (full speed control), and plays MP3 etc too! Whats more, it has Bluetooth BUILT IN! Yes, no more fear of getting fined for talking on your mob whilst driving
It also supports Voice Dial if your mobile has the function. It worked fine with my Sony Ericsson mob.
More information can be found here : http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/products/details/cd-head-units/cde-103bt.html
I will be throwing in the iPod cable as well with the package.
A quick run down of what you are getting :
1) The HU
2) HU case
3) HU mounting bracket
4) Microphone
5) Clip for microphone (I didn't use this, I just modded the interior reading lights to hold them)
6) The Adaptor Harness (Has some faults - read bottom)
7) Full Speed iPod cable
Bad points :
1) There's a very small mark on the HU but its not noticable and very minor. Its around 2mm in length. Doesn't affect the HU's performance in anyway. The pic is shown below.
2) The Blue wire (Aerial) is cut in half because I put in a switch. This prevents your aerial from going up even though you are not listening to radio. You can either solder them back or put a switch in like me
No biggie.
The Remote wire(Blue with white stripes) is also cut. This is used to turn on the amps when the HU is turned on. I cut it because I couldn't find the right adaptor so I just soldered the wires from my amp to the HU wire. So it doesn't affect anything at all. You can crimp a new adaptor head on it or even just strip it and solder it directly to your amp's remote wire. If you do not have an amp at all you don't have to do anything
The rest of the black wiring tape you see was used to connect to my gauges for dimmer, power etc. There's nothing wrong with them so you can just leave them alone.
Of course you must already have the Japanese to ISO adaptor leads since I won't be providing that. You should have that if you already have an aftermarket HU in your car.
You might also need an aerial adaptor for the HU but again, if you have an aftermarket HU chances are you already have those
Right, the price then.
New ones are selling for around £160 (without iPod cable) at the moment.
I would be happy if anyone could offer me £100 delivered.

Help! My Supra got hit :(
in Supra Chat
Posted · Edited by jonathanc (see edit history)
Left my Supra parked for 10 mins and someone bumped into it and left a dent in the passenger side wing.
The paintwork is fine though no scrathes etc just a dent that I can't reach to the other side to knock out.
Is this self repairable of should I go to a body shop? Is it expensive?
Any advice appreaciated
