Thanks mate.

Durability wise I'll suppose I'll see when it's all back together using the car, but it seems like it's pretty solid coat and doesn't seem to scratch that easily.

I used my trade wipes on them after putting all the bits back on the panels and did not affect them at all.

Small update, not such a good one!

Got my intercooler pipe work back, unfortunately one has been welded up in the wrong position so has to go back. Cut it across the weld, cleaned up and fitted a joiner just to get it running.

Primed it a couple of times by pulling the igniter waiting in between for the starter to cool, igniter clipped back in and started first time. The timing was out a tooth, my mistake not looking properly with the UR cam pulleys, running terrible loads of black smoke overfueling.

So with my brothers help last night, managed to take all the front end out, change the timing and all back together in 3 hours which weren't too bad going. Well......it's running better but still not right!

It's not idling correct on cold start up and still running rich. I'd say it's idling around 900-1k on cold and just sounds like it wants to stall.

Things to look at:

ICV

Water temp sensor

Vacuum leaks

TPS (again)

Earth straps

I've changed all the hoses and was very thorough throughout changing. This is one of things things I hate most fault finding and time consuming.

If anyone has any advice of other things for me to check let me know please :)

:Edit: Plus I have no error codes either.

  • 1 month later...

Well I've just gone through changing all the pictures from being hosted on Photobucket to the forum, has taken me ages! At least now I hope they won't disappear :)

Thought I'd do an update on how I'm getting on.

After just standing looking at the hoses on the inlet side for a couple of minutes, I noticed what the problem was I had the Idle air ref and MAP sensor hoses on the wrong way round. Swapped them over started up fine and ran sweet which I was happy to find!

I did have some warning lights coming up on the dash which ended up being a broken wire on the 3pin connector to the alternator. New connector bought and changed over which got that sorted :)

I haven't sprayed up my turbo side pipe yet as said before it needs to be welded up again as I don't like using a joiner where not needed.

IMG_49421_zpsegcdxapn.jpg.f3f0d0dd4e2598bdf3b764a5aa22041b.jpg

I then moved onto putting the rear spoiler back on with the new gaskets.

IMG_50162_zps3lsscvyo.JPG.0b4709f2d82553b0779f06bcbb09bd5f.JPG

Front bumper back together using all new fixings, indicators, connectors, badge and Zunsport grill set. Also sprayed up the metal bumper bars for the stock lip.

IMG_50221_zpsmhaoftf2.jpg.65bfb9d7d24dd8c9d1181111fe7076fa.jpg

Now the bumper was back on I could finish off putting the arch liner parts back on and my SRD front bumper under tray which Lee sorted me out with.

Gave the arch plastic a clean and spray up, again all back together with new clips and fixings.

The car was running rich suddenly, after going through testing the IACV and setting up the TPS correctly and doing a pressure test for leaks on the system I took out the 02 sensor and done the lemon juice trick. Well for me that made it even worse and I was getting around 10.4 AFR on idle which is obviously way too rich.

Ordered a new 02 sensor and fitted, car sits around 14.4-14.7 now as it should be. Still have a few little bits to do, but nothing major just enjoying using the car as its been off the road for the last 4 months now.

I've started to test my VSV's trying to get to the bottom of my 2nd turbo not coming on sometimes but I'm happy after everything that has been done that's all I've got to look into.....thank god 😀

Rob, fantastic job. Fair play on sorting out the photos as well, I can imagine it was rather time consuming.

Thanks guys :) Yes mate, took even longer as I got it wrong the first time haha!

Had a couple of people message me about the rear view camera on how its mounted etc.

I've seen it done on here before by others so just done the same way, drilled out the centre fixing of the rear licence plate lights and fixed my camera in that position. The threaded end just goes up through the bumper and the rear licence plate light housing then the locking nut clamps it together.

For a cheap £15 odd camera the picture is fine, does the job and handy in them tight spots.

This thread is awesome, don't suppose you fancy any weekend work in Derby do you lol

Top work buddy

Could do with one of them cameras myself, even after owning supras for 13years i'm still unable to judge how close i am to anything behind me when reversing.

Really nice work, love the attention to the detail! :) Where did you bought that rear view camera?

Thanks guys :)

Its just one off of amazon, see link > https://www.amazon.co.uk/Votteo-Definition-Universal-Parking-Waterproof/dp/B01N2YB08Q/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1501657099&sr=8-24&keywords=rear+view+camera

I've seen the same looking ones on eBay for cheaper, probably exactly the same spec.

Very nice, clean and tidy. Glad you managed to sort the pictures out.

Cheers bud, yes finally I'm glad you let me know they weren't working!

  • 3 weeks later...

Managed to get a couple of bits done on the weekend.

My AC has not been working, pump not kicking in at all. Done the diagnostics with holding down the buttons plus having a read up of other people's experiences with AC issues. I ordered a new dryer and expansion valve hoping the expansion valve was the culprit, the dryer as I know that's meant to be changed if air has got into the system.

Getting the evaporator core out wasn't to bad, 10 minute job but I was surprised to see how much debris had been collected over the years.

Clean out and all back together, I went down to my brothers to finally get my intercooler pipework how I want it. So much easier for me to work on as he has everything you need.

Regassed my AC as well, hoping for it to now be all ok. It's fine on the pressure test but only time will tell, it's been 4 days and still working so fingers crossed.

Next on the list is looking into why my low fuel light is permanently on!
