Drivers door lock ( FIXED )

Hi all

I purchased a Supra 3 litre Mk4 non turbo auto and it is fitted with a clifford remote entry system, it has recently started playing up as follows, locks fine, press unlock and click a lot quieter than when locking, then unable to open, only way in is unlocking passenger door with key and leaning accross to undo drivers door lock attached on the inside release handle, then I can go back and open the drivers door with the external handle, I cannot turn the drivers door key in the handle at all it just goes in and thats it, no left or right movement.

I phoned two companies that specialise in remote locking for cars and they both said it is probably the lock motor causing the issue.

Any help gratefully accepted !

My first post and I'm glad I found this forum !!!

You say you can't turn the key in the drivers door at all but it will turn and unlock passenger side door? - Sounds like someone has changed the drivers door lock barrel and not given you the key?

Could be two separate issues you're dealing with:

1 - Faulty alarm/central locking module plus

2 - Key not matching drivers lock barrel

Thats a good point about a different barrel, I have two keys so will check if they differ

Perhaps an intermittent fault with a poor earth somewhere?

Thinking back, I did have a similar issue with my remote locking when I first bought my previous supra few years ago. Car would not remote lock on both the alarm fob and via the key. Turned out on that one to be the ignition barrel slightly worn and were able to remove the key with ignition still on. This then prevented the remote locking from working.

did that leave the ignition lights on the dash on too ?

Only when not turned fully to first stop I think, also left up the aerial.

They ignition turned all the way anti-clockwise till it stopped so at the time when first bought it I assumed all was off. Soon figured out that I had to push the key barrel in slightly and continue to turn further until fully off. Don't think my TT is like this though from memory, just turns fully off without having to push key barrel further inwards.
