Single Turbo Metal Widearch, Insurance companies review; Sky wouldn't insure!

Due to having had the car off the road for a while, they said 600hp is too much to jump into. Want at least 1-year experience on the road at that kind of power level. How do you get experience if they don't insure?

Any other companies to try?

My current list of companies I'm going to approach next!

  • Sky - Rung them back today, won't insure 600hp with less than 1 years road experience
  • LV Classics - Emailed 12th July. Want me to call back, 15th July.
  • Lancaster - Emailed 12th July
  • Lynbrook - Emailed 12th July
  • Aplan - Emailed 12th July
  • [-]Footman James[-] - Emailed 12th July. Responed today, 15th July. Sadly, don't insure my kind of request.
  • Adrian Flux - Waiting jimjam92 response on contact
  • Higos (LWIB) - Emailed 12th July. Tried calling me today 15th July, will give them a call back tomorrow as they left a nice text.
  • Performance Direct - Emailed 12th July
  • Competition Car Insurance - Website seems down, managed to find a phone number and also an email, sent email 12th July, will call next week
  • Classicline Insurance - Emailed 12th July. Responded today! Cheapest yet. £493. Includes legal cover, but is not agreed valuation.
  • Devitt
  • HIC Insurance
  • Brent Ater
  • Reis Motorsport Insurance - Completed basic form on their website, will update them with technical information on response. Guys were MEGA professional and helpful. £570 with £30k agreed value and only charge £60 for including track days. Really felt looked after with these guys. Waiting to hear back on the possibility for pre-spool nitrous as an addition.
  • Swinton - Will call when office hours open for contact email
  • Keith Michaels PLC - Emailed 12th July
  • RH Specialist Insurance - Not called, as so many others to deal with currently.
  • Carole Nash - Called them 12th July, gave me a referral email due to the number of modifications - going to call me back Monday!
  • Complete Car Cover - Rung them, told me to do a quote online then ring them back with a ref no. When f the website told me any more than 5 modifications I need to call them to discuss. Rung back and given a direct email to a polite gentleman who's going to review and ring back tomorrow morning.

I have always found Sky terrible, i've tried them on and off over the years. They weren't interested giving a competitive price or a agreed valuation based on my receipts, photos of the car and for sale adverts for the UK and Japan.

jimjam92 works for flux I believe - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/member.php?44601-jimjam92 Flux is who I insure with but i'm not driving a single.

Thanks buddy. I've sent him a PM, just to see what the situ is.

Going to email all the other companies now, see what they say. I'll leave A.Flux, to see Jim's response.

At 33, with over 18 years combined no claims on two policies and owning the car since 2010, with over 400hp for many years, you'd think they would have at least given me a price. Very disappointing especially as a forum sponsor.

I tried Sky insurance today and was quoted £560 which I thought was a bit high as last time I had it on the road it was £330.

That’s with all mods declared and a 3k mileage limit.

I will also be trying some other options tomorrow.

I have been insured with Sky pretty much since I have had my car, 15 years odd. Last year I moved to Adrian Flux, as they were nearly £100 cheaper. This year my renewal came through from Adrian Flux at £329, I called Sky for a comparison quote and they came back at £900. I'm not sure if I will bother calling next year.

Generally I have found sky very helpful however it does depend who you speak to, most of the good ones have left, Rose Miller I used to deal with mainly and she was absolutely brilliant then she left so dealt with Aimee Lombard and she was great too but was a very short time after Rose left that Aimee left too and have since dealt mainly with Luke Tillbrook, Luke is also brilliant and very helpful but he only deals with new customers not renewals, when renewing my BMW insurance I asked many times to speak to him and they wouldn't put me through because I was always told they couldn't put me through as he only deals with new customers now and not renewals and the service I got and the price I was quoted wasn't the best. Then came time to renew my white Supra (very heavily modified as a lot of you know) and again asking to speak to Luke and getting told I couldn't and the price and service quoted by the renewals team wasn't good enough so I cancelled my renewal and started to look elsewhere... afterwards I thought I might be classed as a new customer again then so called back and finally got through to Luke as I was again classed as a new customer and as expected I got great service and a great price off him.

Basically Luke is the man to speak to there as he is very helpful and will do his best for you and if the renewals team in future provide the same service/quotes then I will continue to cancel the renewal and go for a new quote off him. Just hope he doesn't leave aswell now or I have no idea who to go to then.

Hi Shawn,

For any future queries (renewals or otherwise), please feel free to PM us through the forum, or send an email to [email protected]

Luke and I both monitor the email address, and I check the forums on a daily basis. We'll ensure that your request is handled correctly, as it should be.

For quite a few reasons, we do indeed try and keep our departments separate. However, there are instances where a customer has become familiar with a certain member of staff, and would understandably prefer to speak with them. I'll pass your comments over.

In the meantime, the aforementioned methods of contact will be a good way of getting hold of us.

Thanks, Alex
