Hood scratch repair

I have a 2.5" scratch on my hood that was badly repaired and painted over by one of the previous owners.

I have been quoted £280 to repair it and re-lacquer part of the hood, will I notice any difference in the hood where the re-lacquered section joins the untreated section?

I got the impression the garage didn't want to do a whole hood respray, they assure me that it will have a good finish.

Not much more to have the whole bonnet done surely?

Whole bonnet would be like £350 - for the sake of it i'd go somewhere else and get the whole thing done.

Am I right to think that there is no clear coat from the factory on a black car? If they dont seem particularly excited about the job try somewhere else?

I had my bonnet done (with masking for the carbon section in the TS bonnet) for 300.

I think they are asking too much for a slight paint.
