car started to missfire and then only ran on 4 cylinders after a while, checked to see how the spark plugs were doing and saw this, anyone know how this could've happened? Valve cover gasket is not leaking

not surprised it only ran on 4 considering these are how the plugs 5 & 6 looked like

New spark plugs installed and runs like a champ now, honestly I think the reason that water was there was because I had the car to a carwash few days prior to it starting to miss-fire and they washed the engine bay probably with a pressure washer and somehow water got in the spark plug crevices, that's the best explanation I can think of because I found no visible leaks.

I had a similar problem - turned out it was the rubber strip that seals between the bulkhead and the underside of the bonnet that had become displaced and let rain water in under the top of the bonnet near the windscreen.

Since I resealed it not had any problems
