2nd Catalytic Converter Value?

The facelift second cat is different to the prefacelift, cheaper on amayama etc. If you look down the end the pipe 'looks' straight through, whereas on the prefacelift you see a 'solid' homeycomb across the whole of the inside (like the 1st cats have). What I'm not sure of is if the straight pipe facelift one has no catalytic properties at all?

The facelift second cat is less than half the new price of the pre-facelift second cat which tells you a lot. A new pre-facelift last time I checked was around £1,400 and facelift was around £600. If you look into the second cat chamber its a ceramic honeycomb in the pre-facelift and a void in the facelift.

As for base price then there are companies who recycle scrapped cats so they can be contacted for a scrap value which for the pre-facelift Supra I'd expect to be around £60. You could contact these and others for a scrap price.

Which mirrors my findings, it would be perhaps harsh to think the £600 'cat' is nothing more than a decat pipe though!? I suspect that it's a cheaper way of providing 'just enough' re emissions, ie the original dual honeycomb setup was overkill and the facelift one has far less platinum etc in it?

I have actually seen one (1 only) factory "cat" with zero internals. Years ago. I assumed it was a faulty one that never had the honeycomb put in for whatever reason. Fresh Jap import, never been modded. definitely had NOT had the internals knocked out, which, with the metal honeycomb, is far from easy or pretty.
