Hi,

Does anyone offer insurance for non UK resident that need to export the car from the UK ? I need insurance to drive a car from UK to Croatia and my local insurance comapny is having problems finding the correct solution, as usually every country offers export plates and 1-2week insurance for the purpose of export.

Insurance from Croatia is not able to legally provide me insurance for a car registered in the UK, so I need to find a short term UK insurance just for transport.

I checked the link you provided but when selecting the car, it says its not possible to insure the supra :(

Any other options or known insurance that I can get in next 3 days?

The daily companies here are unlikely to touch the Supra in my experience even for us resident here in the UK and using only in the UK.

Japanese imports were often insured on there VIN number when preregistered here so perhaps a Croatian Insurance company might do the same, it's going to need perhaps a specialist broker......you'd think someone would take it on if you then use them going forward?

I doubt any insurer would provide cover for you to self export a vehicle. That'd leave them wide open to fraudulent claims of oh it got stolen somewhere en route. You can get transit insurance which costs 1% of value insured and then arrange your own 20 foot container shipment port to port. So long as you do it before March 29th there won't be any major paperwork issues whereas after that date there may be.

PS - The transit insurance I arranged in the past had a 30 day term.

If you have friends in UK then buy normal UK car insurance, maybe from confused.com, provide your friends UK address, take your car to the Croatia and cancel your British car insurance. You have two weeks for cancelation.

I'm sure there are clauses specifically concerning false information about owners, main drivers, addresses, where it'll be parked overnight etc. that would invalidate any insurance.

Many people is doing that. why? because in UK you dont have export plates and export insurance like in for example Germany. Thats allways an option especially if you need insurance for less than 24 hours. I know it is not the best way to do it but it is an option, and once you are off the boat in France nobody cares where you live in UK and where your car is parked overnight. Propably your insurance will be sky-high with EU driving licence (allways cheaper with full UK licence) and with information that you came to the UK yesterday and you are from Croatia (or any other EU country)
