Turbo cut out??

Car is 95 TT auto has UK turbos installed was coming off a roundabout went to put the power down and turbo came on and off instantly EML came on after 20 seconds it went and everything was back to normal....

You hit boost/fuel cut. Basically if your turbo creates more boost than expected the stock ECU will cut power. To counter this, you may need a HKS FCD

I don't have any BPU upgrades so it this normal? Thanks for the advice

Not a real idea but i didnt think you could just connect UK turbos to j spec cars

I think you're right Russ. The UK turbo had a higher boost than the J-Specs. As suggested you are likely hitting fuel cut. This would be the equivalent of installing hybrid turbo on a UK Spec.

When did you have the UK turbo installed?

It was installed before I brought the car. I'll have to dig the receipt out.

Found the paperwork it's recorded as a turbo fault both turbos were removed and the front was damaged on the turbine so UK ones were sourced and they were rebuilt with new gaskets the work was done 14/04/2016

Im going for the car not understanding the UK spec turbos then.

Yeah the airbox and cats are stock

I'm looking into BPU anyway so would it resolve the problem?

In theory it should never reach boost cut with both cats and the air box in place, thats what Toyota used to control the boost level

UNless the ECU does not understand the UK spec turbos.
