Right in the middle of fitting an rltc unit.

Matt H kindly supplied the pin outs for the ecu and abs.

Unfortunately The abs one doesnt seem to apply.

In the photos, which one is the abs ecu? The one with the orange plugs or the metal one.

Does anyone have the pinouts for the appropriate one. I need to get this done in the next few hours.

Any / all help much apreciated

Quick update

Still in trouble regarding the abs connections.

I have two wheel speeds not registering

The connections seem good.

Could the pinouts be wrong.

This is what I Connected

Wheel Pin no ABS ECU Wire colour Rltc wire colour

FR A21 - 3 Red Red

FL A21 - 8 White Yellow

RR A20 - 10 Blue Blue

RL A20 - 22 Purple Green

The pin numbering system is what I could find from previous threads re vvti abs ecu's. However the pin count does not match the abs unit I have, (see previous pics), although the wire colours do.

At the moment, the yellow and green rltc wires are not picking up any wheel signals at all.

Approaching insanity and blissfull oblivion

Is it possible to use a multimeter on the ABS wires and spin each wheel in turn to check for the four wires?

The RLTC manual says I should be measuring resistance, can this be done?

Do you need the ignition on, should the multiplug be plugged in? .

Hope I can get mine done today. :innocent:

A small bit of advice Matt H gave me.

Jack the car up (axle stands required) spin the wheels and probe the connections of the abs system. What to probe with I dont know. A multimetre maybe? So you are on the right track. I dont know if ignition should be on etc......

I dont have either axle stands or a multimetre and my driveway is on a large gradient. Was hoping someone, somewhere may have the correct pinouts.

I've been wrestling with this and I think I've finally got the right pins/wires, just got to wire them up now ;) That piccy looks like my ABS ECU, a 26pin and a 12pin. If, on that picture, you start the pin numbering from top right and head leftwards, pin 3 on the 12 pin plug is indeed red. Pin 8 is 2nd from the right and it's white.

All the colours fit, as does the logical layout of the pins, so I'm confident it's correct.

Very helpful, I was expecting the pin numbers on the bottom row to follow round from the top. Didn't expect them to start from the right again!

I've also got the red and white wires. :D

On the 26 pin connector.Top row starting from right, pin 10 is blue/silver bands. Bottom row , pin 22 is purple/silver bands.

On the ECU my injector wires are slightly different, I checked the wires on the injectors themselves.

Can anyone confirm these are correct?

I get:

Injector 1 .. red/blue

.......... 2 .. blue/red

.......... 3 .. blue

.......... 4 .. red/white

.......... 5 .. red

.......... 6 .. black/red

Not sure about the rpm wire yet.

The enclosed pic is a 1998 vvti ecu with the wiring pinouts for the injectors, rpm and 12v. These work perfectly. I wired these on saturday and all work correctly.

I am at work all day, and cant help with the wire colours. I left all my other notes at home.

Hope this helps.

Also you could try here

http://www.supras.nl/view.php?page=modsJZA61VVTi.htm

Its arnouts website.

Just be aware that the pin numbering system is backwards for each block

But the vvti pinouts and wire colours are correct, I think, for the corresponding locations.

Hope this helps some more.

Anyone got any more light to shed on the 98 abs ecu?

Also here

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=7416&highlight=vvti+abs+ecu

This may be the most informative.

Check Pete's (Thor Racing) pics of a jap vvti abs ecu (reposted below.)

(Hope you dont mind me reposting them Pete)

The abs unit is the same as mine but the wiring seems to be to pins

1 and 3

and to pins

8 and 9

of the smaller 12 pin connector

That would make the following wiring incorrect.

This is what I Connected

Wheel Pin no ABS ECU Wire colour Rltc wire colour

FR A21 - 3 Red Red

FL A21 - 8 White Yellow

RR A20 - 10 Blue Blue

RL A20 - 22 Purple Green

God my head hurts

John, I've just edited this after reading your post properly.

There are two connections on each of the two plugs, I jacked up the car this afternoon, spun the wheels and checked them with my multimeter.

You were correct the first time.

ABS Connections VVTI

John, this just confirms what you originally thought about the ABS wires.

I've checked with my multimeter and they are correct. :eyebrows:

Small Plug

Pin 3 Red wire .......Front Right Wheel

Pin 8 White wire......Front Left Wheel

Large Plug

Pin 10 Blue Wire......Rear Right Wheel

Pin 22 Purple Wire....Rear Left Wheel

The pins that I've got for the injectors are different though, I've put what I got above what you thought.

These are on my Oct 97 VVTI, I would be surprised if they were different on your 98 car.

I checked the colours on the Injectors themselves to obtain this.

Thats fantastic .

It seems I may have dodgy connections on two of my wheelspeed sensors, or else I have a dodgy rltc box.

I got totally confused when I saw Pete's pictures.

I looks like all four connections are going to the left hand connector.

I will check my connections the next dry evening.

Did you get your install and setup finished.

How did it go? All working properly without too many other hiccups I hope

Enjoy and safe driving.

I haven't got it fitting yet, just wanted to check the wires first.

I jacked up each wheel in turn and got someone to spin the wheel, it doesn't have to rotate very quickly at all.

No need to have the ignition on.

I left the multiplugs plugged in, I grounded one end of the multimeter test leads on a good earth and then probed the other lead into the two plugs to check for the wires.

I was getting a reading of about 1400-1500 ohms for each wheels which was fluctuating as the wheel turned. :D

That all matches with what I've found out on my 1996 facelift non-vvti  Hurrah, I'm just about in the position to wire it all up. Again

Another pointer is that the sensor wires on the 12 pin plug go to a heavily shielded section of loom about 4" down from the plug (you'd have to cut away the loom sheathing to find it) and the sensor wires on the 26 pin plug are interwoven together.

If we all get out RLTC working I'm gonna poach this thread for a tech article :)
