Today I did some more work on the cars, and buttoned up a few bits under the bonnet and gave the rad, expansion tank and a few other bits a quick wipe with some metal polish.

 

First time I got to stand back and look at the front end and im very happy with the lights.

 

Also took it out very quickly round the block and the second turbo is back to working although it popped another vac line when i got home, now going to look into cleaning up the vac lines an re-newing them all. Thinking about trying to delete the hardpipes above the turbo pipes to tidy up the bay even more. Any advice on decent vac lines please shout, Ive used gates bebofre but wasnt very happy with it all as it is so tight to get on anything as they are so thick.

 

Very nice work on the headlights, looks really tidy & oem with the wrap. The edges often get a little worn I find.

Use cotton braided vacuum hose with mini hose clips to stop them popping off?

Thanks mate that was the look I was going for, may switch to facelifts this year though.

Does the braid cut nicely so it looks neat. Do you have to flick a flame I er the edge to seal the end?

 

 

No probs, i invested in one of these for cutting all my engine hoses as i always used to get wound up with uneven ends. Works a treat on big hose pipes to. I didnt burn the ends as this tool gives a clean cut

So small update, I have picked up my parts from the body shop,

 

- newly refurbished strut brace

- Refurbished OEM TT6 thick front ARB

- refurbished ARB chassis rail brackets

- refurbished ARB U brackets

 

I also dug the old girl out last weekend and blew the cobwebs off, was a good drive. Need to refit my carbon boot lip as i removed it to fit a new one but fitment was terrible luckily the seller was a true gent and sent me a refund.

 

All looking very fresh, I couldnt be happier, more updates coming tomorrow after a trip involving a nice load of bits

 

So a trip to SRD today resulted in the parts needed to get cracking on the car.

 

OEM clutch plate

OEM clutch cover

shifter bushes

OEM release bearing

OEM O2 sensor

powerflex ARB bushes

Explansion tank cap

Radiator Cap

Toyota Oil filter

 

Think that was it

 

So since I posted last I have been tinkering in the garage tested the new bushes in the newly painted ARB's/brackets looks great imo. The hunt continues for more parts of the underside. These were stripped to bare metal and redone

 

 

Next I spent a couple of days making a good set of OEM facelift indicators out of a couple of bad ones, a good flat and polish, steeling some brackets and hard ware of another set later and they were looking good. Chopped up the hacked looms and re did them and the result is fairly tidy. Finally I have conformed to the masses and gone facelift, always liked the orange on the blue for some reason but fancied a change and going with genuine ones mean I have the nice fried egg colouration.

 

Next I fitted my newly painted strut brace, dont think I will be keeping this as it sits VERY close to my engine bay boxs, but for now its staying until I get the old one refurbished.

 

I then fitted my new blitz Rad cap and new expansion tank cap, pipe and hose clips, this removes the expansion tank outlet hose and keeps it all inbuilt into the cap so tidys it up a little further imo.

So got the Clutch fitted last weekend and a brake slider freed off. big thanks to James (theturleshead) Helped me out massively! Need to bed it in now started to get some town miles on it.

 

 

Also got a ARB and brackets along with subframe braces for the rear ready to go to the body shop, but a bit concerned the wear on it so getting it checked before i spend out on refurbishing it.

Glad the car is driveable again.

 

Disappointed you got ride of the orange blobs

Another weekend passed an another 100 miles covered on little roads at slow speeds up and down through the gears. A couple more free days spent pottering around in it should see me be able to drive the car as intended soon

 

 

Sent some more parts for the underside off to be redone too so that will be nice to have back. Also need to get some brackets for my diffuser fabbed up as one snapped the other day, so currently the rear of the car is de-carboned the Lip is going to be sanded on the edges to ensure a better fitment then that can go back on.

 

Slowly working my way though the list.

While fitting the clutch the other week one of the shocking shine auto diffuser brackets finally gave up the ghost. I then eneded up talking to Mark at MRX customs and he sorted me out with some new ones cut from a decent grade of stainless and FAR stronger. Massive thanks to him and shows what sort of members we have in this place, I would highly recommend him as he help me out massively and quickly and did all this from some crappy sketchs of mine

 

Anyway the diffuser is now fitted and lovely and solid, after this I had a spare bit of time so decided to start on the wheel lips, time is no longer going to allow for a full refurb so I just machine polished the lips, came up nice for a quick 15 mins per wheel. 2 more to go.

 

Continuing on the small bits theme, today I spent a couple of hours working on the rear lip. I've always liked the style I have more so than the Ridox style, as it hooks round the spoiler ends nicely, however this one has always fitted a little strange since fitting the TRD, (mainly due to my TRD being fully rebuilt differently) causing it to rub on one end and was causing the other end to lift.

 

I decided to bite the bullet and get a ridox style one but once arrived it quickly showed that it was never going to fit on a supra, as the fitment was horific, luckily the seller was a stand up guy (as I already new) and when I mentioned the problem he refunded me straight away.

 

This left me at the drawing board, I've always liked the one I had originally, so today I decided it wasn't ever going to refitted till the fitment was correct so just go for it. I went at the ends with a file and took off a good half a cm of each end then feathered the sanding into the resin coat. Curved and re-shaped the ends until I was happy with the shaped, then gave it a scuff and re clear coated it. Then cleaned up the underside and layered on some decent double sided and I'm now happy to report fitment is bang on. The picture it is just sat on the boot and isnt stuck down yet and it sits nicely. Very happy with the result and another annoying niggle finally dealt with.

 

Another little bit of time spent in the man cave today, my newly rebuilt brakes arrived from SRD, big thanks to lee. So got them cleaned and stickered up ready, also hooked out my new brake lines ready to be fitted at the same time.

 

Then got the lip back on the boot, happy with how its fitting now. Then got another lip polished back up, just one more to go now. planning to do that tomorrow if I get all my other jobs done in time, then my plan is to alter the fitment of the RMM lip to make sure its perfect.

 

All the little bits are helping to rekindle the love as I'm now not walking round it picking up on the little niggles.
