Fast forward a couple of months. The car went to the painter for the engine bay respray ended up with a full respray due to some worrying rust signs around the fenders.

Underneath the brown/airbrush paint was an orange paint which was causing the problems. The paint peeled off like a wrap with a simple knife. Metal was starting to appear on several spots after removing all of the orange garbage. The left rear fender is an absolute nightmare with rust holes all covered by a thick green layer of filler. The most likely outcome is cutting out both rear fenders and use it as an excuse to go widebody . I've sent Paul@Whifbitz an email for the rear fenders, I've already received carbon front fenders from Spain. The rest of the chassis will be a bare metal respray now to get rid of any future problems.

I ordered the different flanges and couplings from Ebay (Gearbox yoke, U joints, tube flanges etc.), and had a local truck company build a 1 piece shaft out of the pieces (they supplied the shaft tube). It was made at Terberg Techniek, they specialize in heavy duty sand/rock hauling trucks. Custom driveshafts are a lot more common in the truck world, I paid 368 euro for the welding/assembling/balancing of the shaft. The parts were about 200-250 dollar I believe. It should withstand 1200+ Nm being very high strength steel. I'm sure there are companies in SA that offer the same service.

The paint stripping continues, a lot of work but it should pay off in the end. We've stopped on the rear fenders as they most likely will be cut out completely. I've ordered a set from Paul and they should be here shortly. The goal is to have the chassis in the epoxy primer within a week.

We're almost finished preparing the car for the primer coat, just waiting on the rear fenders now to be able to cut the OEM fenders first and then apply primer. The hole for the antenna was already welded shut previously and they have tried pulling the passenger side fender back into shape after what looks to be an accident with another car hitting the side.

The Whifbitz Varis/Ridox rear fenders have arrived, I'll be testing the fitment tomorrow. The rear will be a replica from the Max Orido street version Supra only with the carbon bits instead of black paint.

Thanks! The CD009 install should work in theory, a good friend has been working on the same install with a 370Z JK40 gearbox and test drove it a couple of days ago. Also a Collins kit.

We've started test fitting the Whifbitz rear panels. The fitment is not exactly brilliant but they're flexible enough to work with. The Blitz skirts are obviously not made to be used with the Ridox fenders but it fits pretty decent, I'll make a custom sidestep to fill the gap in the carbon piece. The fitment of the front fenders is like OEM as well as the Signature bumper. The hood and facelift lights are temporary (not mine).

Beginning with modifying the front of the skirts to leave room for the opening in the fender.

Next up was the cutting of the rear fenders to make room for the Ridox fenders. I drilled out the welds in the fender liner and folded it to the outside. Then used a roller to stretch the inner fender upwards. It will need some relieve cuts to go up a bit higher still but the fenders now fit like they should, the edge that sticks out will support the fenders from the inside. I'm attaching them with rubber rivnuts and stainless Torx bolts on the outside to allow for some flexability when the body moves.

The new wheels arrived today, Work Meister S1 3 piece. 10J fronts and 12J rears with Michelin Super Sport tyres. The rear wheels will need either a spacer or coilovers to clear the springs. Both is an option the car already has ARP studs for a slip-on hubcentric spacer. Not really a fan of the bolt-on type.

I've removed the brake calipers to overhaul them with Chris Wilson stainless steel parts. The master cilinder and booster have also been removed.

The new colour also arrived last week. Nissan JW0 better known as Millenium Jade from the R34 GTR. It almost looks grey in the picture but it's a yellowish green colour.

The chassis is now painted in it's final coat of black primer. It's now waiting to go to Double M Carbon (Mario & Mai, some of you guys may know them from the Dragonball tours) to receive some aesthetic carbon bits along the center roof line.

Thanks mate! I do fancy the Ridox front bumper as well, I quite like the more rare Japanese-market-only bits here and there if I can get my hands on them. Makes the front of the car that much more unique and exotic among other Supras on a meeting as well. It's like a blend between OEM and Blitz (which the car had previously before that bumper accidently exploded on a speed ramp ), the Ridox front (with splitter) kind of needs the skirts as well to match the look.

Quick update:

The wheel/suspension issue will be fixed by installing some KW V3 coilovers with new OEM topmounts, and I ordered a Do Luck carbon diffuser from Whifbitz and a few smaller carbon bits (exhaust shroud and number plate hole cover) from Pro Spec imports to add some carbon goodness to rear of the car.

The Supra went on a trip to Double M Carbon today, doing a roof will be a first for them and we're both very excited to see the final product!

Later today I've finished a small cover for the third brake light hole, it's not mandatory on cars before '96 here in The Netherlands and I prefer the cleaner look without it.

I've blanked my middle light too. Not sure where it would even be a forced requirement? Definitely looks better.
