Help HID Kit Problems

I've recently decided to get a HID kit for my 1993 import supra NA and the kit I bought off ebay did not work on my car. I have the plastic J spec facelight headlights.

This was the kit I had:

CANBUS PRO 35W HID XENON CONVERSION KIT HB3

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260951998477

The kit worked fine when tested on the battery but when plugged in correctly nothing, even with the engine running.

My only thought was that maybe the kit wasn't getting enough power through the standard bulb fittings.

Any ideas on why this is? Or maybe a suggestion of a kit that people know to work correctly?

I'm after a decent set of 4300K.

Thanks

Chris

HID ballasts need a minimum voltage to fire up the bulbs, if the voltage is too low the lights will either flicker or not light at all. If your kit works when connected directly to the battery, this is almost certainly the problem. The easiest solution is to connect the HID ballasts via a relay directly to the battery, if you do a search on eBay for 'HID relay harness' you should be able to find what you need.

Well that worked perfectly!!

Thanks for the help on that one. Keep the plug on the ballast the correct way round but turn around the plug from your original bulb connectors.

Yes that kit is good but you don't need it for Supra's.

I ended up with this one instead...

These are £26.95 with next day free postage whereas the others were £48.73

I bought a set of these. Metal case so a lot more sturdy then the all plastic ones. £24.64 and working well. Listing ends tomorrow.
