Apon my quest to get rid of all the rust on my car I have found that the strip of metal that runs underneath the radiator is quite rusty and corroded. Im not sure of the name of this panel and how I go about replacing it as its spot welded in at each end. If I get a new one can I just chop out the rusty bit and weld the new bit on with a smear of body sealent?

Its dead in the middle about 8" accross and goes from the front to half way back on top. I would like to replace it but thought it would be easier to cut the middle out and spot weld a bit straight on top. Not sure if this is against MOT stuff tho...

You could probably get away with some box section, something

like 2" x 1" (50mm x 25mm) in whatever length you need and as

long as you overlapped it where you weld it then it would be

strong enough.

Thats what I was thinking. Cheers guys :)
