Car heaters (cigarette lighter ones)

Hey all, my sisters car has got a crappy heater, she has to do school runs every morning in the cold etc etc and needs the car to warm up as quick as possible so the little ones can have a nice warm drive. My mums asked me to find a portable one we can get her for christmas, so i thought my best bet would be to ask on here, does anyone have any recommendations beside replacing the heater?

thanks, Kev:)

I don't think they'll be much good. I've got a heater that runs from the ciggy lighter somewhere, and IMO you may as well not bother with it. I can warm up the car faster by farting. It also sounds like a wasp. Not pleasant.

What car is it? Sounds like it needs a coolant flush and/or a new heater matrix.

I had one of these in my ancient Charade long ago, my advice would be to forget about it mate unless the technology has moved on. It's noisy as fuk and you barely get any heat. Best advice is to wrap up warmer and maybe pre-heat the car a little before the journey.

Or install her one of those alarm systems where you can start car and turn on heating remotely :p
