Branners Posted June 3, 2004 Share Posted June 3, 2004 You can wire it in but it needs stuff wired in to various looms, if the car is missing the cruise then the connector from under the bonnet back in to the car will also be missing so you have to get that and run it through the bulkhead. JB I have always found this plug to be present on cars NOT fitted with cruise. Just the other day someone asked about what some unconnected plugs were for and they turned out to be for Cruise. My first '93 RZ didn't have cruise but it had all the wiring and plugs. But then my second '93 RZ only appeared to have the plug under the bonnet, not the 26 pin green plug behind the dash for the cruise ECU. The one under the bonnet, by the way connects straight into the cruise actuator. If you are thinking of wiring up the stock Toyota unit, be prepared for ALOT of work. Cruise requires inputs from speed sensors, brake pedal (Actually needs the dual contact brake switch, normally these are single contact) gear lever (to switch off cruise when you hit neutral), handbrake etc. etc. Takes ages! It is a good excercise in getting to know your car though! It also utilises power supplies form 3 different circuits.
