FAQ: The Red button with Japanese symbols

Q. What does the big red button next to the auto gear shifter do?

 

A. This button allows you to move the gear lever out of Park when the engine is not running.

 

It is a common misconception that it operates an ejector seat, however these were never fitted as a standard option to the mkiv.

If we think it's bad for us, it must be a nightmare on the Japanese Supra forums. I mean, there is one button in the whole car with Japanese writing. Every other one is in English! I bet every second post is along the lines of:

 

英国の執筆のそのボタン、それは何をするか。 それにそれのSLIP CONT OFFある。 私はすることを解決できない!
