Caps of that style have a typical life time of 5000 hours and that's these days, not 20 years ago. It is amazing old electronics work as long as they do as most are well past their designed service life. You could just replace it for a like for like, you might even find it will work perfectly without it although you risk damaging other components then.

I do, can you tell me which way the pipe points at the open end, does it bend and point straight up? are there any other off shoots from it? thanks, -

Active fuel cut defender voltage signal clamp device. Clamps the voltage output signal from your 5 volt MAF/MAP sensor to prevent the ECU detecting an over boost when increasing the boost pressure of your turbo. Unlike the HKS FCD which decreases the voltage signal across the sensors entire output range potentially causing catastrophic damage to your engine, this device only modifies the signal after the selected clamp voltage so the signal remains completely un-changed at lower boost levels. Device taps into your sensors 5V and 0V power supply and then the sensors output signal is intercepted and passed through the device. Device can be wired in next to the sensor for easy wire access or by the ECU for easier adjustment inside the car. 50cm wire length for ease of install, longer wire available on request. Very small form factor for easy placement in tight spaces. Device threshold is adjusted by a small flat head screw driver. £39.99 Delivered

read the description, I was using an external gate on a modified manifold, it would simply need a standard exhaust housing putting on -
