  1. 1996 Toyota Supra RZ (Import, Manual, Facelift, non-VVTi) Engine Damaged - Excessive Lateral Crank Movement (Crankwalk) First registered in the UK on 11th January 2006 when I purchased her with 68,000 miles (ODO read 110,000 km). ODO currently reads 127,500 miles which is around 103,000 genuine miles. Since owning the car I have added/replaced the following... 19” Racinghart CR Wheels Walbro Fuel Pump Thor Fuel Cut Defender Envy Decat Pipes (not currently installed) RSR CAT-Back Exhaust New OEM O2 Sensor Tein Flex Suspension TRD Front Strut Brace TRD Anti Roll Bars Greddy FMIC (2 row) RSR Air Filter (not currently installed) New Radiator (unknown brand off eBay) TRD Radiator Cap New OEM Wheel Bearings All Round New OEM Brake Discs All Round New OEM Brake Master Cylinder Goodridge Stainles Steel Brake Lines All Round New OEM Hand Brake Shoes New OEM Dash Panels New OEM Leather Gear Knob New OEM Handbrake Lever TRD Steering Wheel (black/sliver) New OEM Glass Headlights Phillips BlueVision Bulbs New OEM Clear Repeaters (front) Halford’s Calcium Battery Refurbished Brake Callipers Infinity Speakers All Round JVC DVD/MP3 Player Blue LED Dash Conversion 2 Years ago I had the engine rebuilt and fully re-balanced due to big-end bearing failure... New OEM Pistons New OEM Piston Rings New OEM Connecting Rods New OEM Bearings New OEM Oil Pump New OEM Water Pump New OEM Timing Belt New OEM Aux Belt New OEM PAS Pump New OEM Gasket Kit ARP Bolts/Studs Throughout TRD Engine Mounts TRD Gearbox Mount New OEM Clutch/Flywheel New OEM Clutch Master Cylinder All seals replaced on Engine/Gearbox The car had passed every MOT without fault until in October 2010, MOT at local Toyota garage failed due to missing side repeaters (no idea why they didn't fail it previously). Luckily it was a Friday which meant that I could add them myself over the weekend and put the car back in for re-test without charge on Monday. Passed MOT on Monday and came home. When I started her the next day, she hesitated and when she did start, I noticed a tapping noise from the engine. Further investigation reveales that the crank has excessive lateral movement (crankwalk). Due to the emotional and financial stress caused when I last had the engine out, I have buried my head in the sand and simply left the car on the drive for the past 9 months. I still have the original Toyota wheels, yellow Bilstein shocks and the original exhaust (all in great condition). It also has 2 new Goodyear Eagle F1’s fitted on the rear wheels which cost me £300+ just before the MOT. The car came with Recaro front seats and large brakes. Starts up and idles fine but internal engine damage unknown. Oil leak has developed at the front seal. The price is £6000 collected. Please send me a PM only if you are interested at this price as I won't accept offers and if it won’t sell then I will replace the engine myself. EDIT: Sorry but I will only sell as a complete package as I may end up keeping the car.
  2. I'll take em of your hands mate!
  3. I’m after a centre cap (both parts) for a 19” Racing Hart CR wheel. Thanks, Jamie.
  4. Cheers Chris. Sent you an email.
  5. I used the Toyota manual and the old assembly as reference. The only thing that I questioned was which way around the weird washer type thing that isn't flat (sits between lip of bearing, pressure plate and large snap ring) goes. In the end I figured it was six of one and half a dozen of the other, as it’s so thin.
  6. Quote from http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/clutch/ "On all aftermarket disks, the cone section faces the rear of the car. This is opposite of the stock disk shown in the picture." I read this as "cone section faces front of car" and this is how the old one came out, which worked fine.
  7. Can’t remember cost of clutch parts as it was purchased a while ago and I fitted it myself using the guide on mkiv.com. Anyway, I can select any gear with great ease with the engine switched off. 1st to 6th is a little more difficult with the engine running, but reverse has become almost impossible to select. The thud seems to be coming from the rear of the car so I am thinking that it has to be down to the clutch not disengaging properly and the noise travelling through the drive shaft. I have bleed the slave cylinder (using the drip method), adjusted the pedal, and double checked the order and location of the release bearing washers, etc, but still no joy. I'm going to get someone to help me bleed the clutch the normal way tomorrow, but for now, has anyone got any other ideas?
  8. Just had a new OEM clutch fitted to my 6 speed TT. Clutch pedal used to feel quite heavy, but now it’s light as a feather and when selecting reverse (which is now quite difficult), there is a loud thud. Anyone got any ideas what this could be?
  9. I have just had a telephone conversation with both Ollie and Richard (Customer Services Manager) at Sky Insurance and I wish to say how impressed I am with how helpful they both were. I was made to feel so valued that I almost forgot there was a problem in the first place. After talking to them directly, I can see now that Sky Insurance acted in the only way that they could under the circumstances. Whilst the fact remains that there are a couple of things I am not happy with, Richard has promised me that he is going to investigate these issues and get back to me when he knows more. Anyway, my confidence in Sky Insurance has been restored. They have refunded the commission on my last policy (greatly received) and sorted me out with an outstanding new policy. I hope that as I have accepted this new policy, it demonstrates that I rate Sky Insurance as the best insurer for me and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else seeking insurance. Oh and Ollie, please feel free to reply openly on here.
  10. Don't mean to be rude, but I am still sat here without insurance, without a reply to the email I sent last night and without the callback I was promised I would receive before 6pm yesterday!
  11. Shortly after posting this, the postman visited and sure enough, there was a letter dated 5th September 2008 which informs me that the policy was cancelled on the 15th August. At around 2:30pm I received a telephone call from a member of your sales team. During our conversation he referred to my original post as a complaint. At this point I wish to point out that my post was intended as warning to others to ensure that they had valid insurance. It was in no way an attempt to blacken Sky’s reputation and I went out of my way to mention how helpful the people at Sky were. As things stand, I have been advised that although Sky can match the previous quote, I will have to pay a £180 (approx) deposit and there was also talk of a cancellation fee. As the exact figures were unknown at the time, I have requested that somebody call me back when they do know the full extent of the financial implications.
  12. I thought I best report this here so that others can learn from my mistake. Not sure if it’s the correct forum, but here goes... As a previous client of Sky, I obtained a quote from them around April this year on my TT Supra and an MR2 NA. I got a great price and was really happy. I completed both Proposal Form’s, photocopied driving licence (both parts) and mkivsupra.net membership card and sent them all together in the same envelope. In June, I rang them to cancel the MR2 insurance (as I sold her on), but was told that I needed to put it in writing. I was also told that they hadn’t received my Proposal Form for the Supra or a copy of my driving licence. This is impossible as they received the Proposal Form for the MR2. Anyway, the only thing I could do was complete a new proposal form and resend a photocopy of my driving licence. On the 2nd August, I completed the new proposal form, wrote a letter requesting cancellation of the MR2 insurance and promptly stuck it in the post-box. The next day, I received a letter from Sky informing me that they had not yet received the new proposal form and that I had 7 days to respond. As I had only sent it the previous day, I elected to ignore the letter. A month later, I have still not received my Certificate or Motor Insurance (although a large sum of money leaves my account each month for my insurance), nor have I received any confirmation of the cancellation of the MR2 insurance. I decided to give Sky a ring to discuss the matter. It transpires that on 15th August 2008, my insurance on the Supra was cancelled. They claim that they didn’t receive my new proposal form until Friday 5th September. I am currently in the process of trying to sort this out and get my policy reinstated (or similar). So far, the Customer Services team have been very helpful, but the final outcome is as yet unknown. I will post the conclusion here, but for the time being I can’t stop thinking about what would have happened had I hit a child whilst driving back from the Shops on Friday night. The moral of this story is, don’t ever be tempted to drive without having some physical form of proof that you are insured. It may seem an obvious point, but I honestly assumed that I was insured because I had an active Direct Debit. That said, I would like to make a point of asking that Sky review their process for dealing with this kind of situation. A letter informing me of the cancellation would have been very, very helpful. To be continued...
  13. To be honest, the speed isn't the issue. In either configuration she is damn quick. My concern is the kick in the back you get at approx 4000 revs. All reports I have read on here state that with a double decat, you really feel the 2nd turbo come online, yet with mine, you feel it more (a lot more) with the CAT installed. It's not a problem as such but I'm concerend that things are seemingly different for me than everyone else.
  14. Okay then, second question... What is the purpose of the sensor that goes into the CAT (one nearest the engine)? I have read that it is only a temp sensor, but I am wondering if this could be the cause of my power loss? I doubt it makes much different, but my Supe is a '96 Facelift TT 6 speed.
  15. My supe is BPU but I've just had to put 1st CAT back on for MOT purposes. On the way to the station, I noticed an incredible difference in acceleration. The sudden surge of power at around 4000 revs is quite frightening compared to before. I thought this was supposed to be the other way around!!! My boost guage/controller is buggered and I am waiting for a new one to be delivered, but I've taken the buggered one out and my guess would be that I would still gain power/torque from taking off the CAT's when running standard boost? Any help appriciated. Oh, and I've switched between the two configurations a few times to ensure that it's only the de-cat that's causing this effect.
