  1. Because I bought 8000K's and am considering going down to 4300k/5000k, and would like to know how it looks from someone that has first hand experience.
  2. Anybody have this set-up? I'm sure from head-on the light output would be pretty much all white. What I'm wondering is -- from the sides (or as you hit bumps in the road), is there any color (tints of blue or purple due to the projector lens) noticeable from the front? BTW 5000K is what some companies sell instead of 4300K.
  3. By the way my color output looks somewhere between 10K and 12K. I believe the projector lenses add a bit more color. And i did a search to find a video that shows what I mean about the light changing color with bumps, etc, due to the projector lenses. check out the first part of this clip: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6450119181940891269&q=hid
  4. A lot of the sellers on the auction site have 5000K instead of 4300K listed. Guess they round it up lol. Here's the illustration: http://64.40.159.224/ebay/Xentec/HIDcolortemps.jpg The 8000K seems to provide more light that my stock bulbs, however a little too much color. I like to have some color, just not that much. I like how the S2000's and Acura TL's look pretty much straight white except as they hit bumps or from the side you can see blues/purples. I know this is mostly due to the projector color. That is why I am wondering how they look in the Supra projectors. 4300/5000 - the better light output would be nice, however if there is no noticeable color to them i may just get 6000K. In the picture above is shows 4300K with no color, however i gotta believe that some color is visible at certain angles due to the projector lenses?
  5. I ended up getting 8000K off that auction site. A little too blue/purple for me. Can anyone else post more pics of ~5000K with stock glass headlights?
  6. Can anyone posts pics of 6000K HID's with stock projectors?
  7. I'm considering 6000K or 8000K. I've seen different illustrations showing the 8000K as being more blue, however I've never seen an actual comparison with the Supra headlights. Since the projector is already blue, I would think it would have some affect on the color output as well. Anyone have any pics?
  8. Pulled the starter out. Turns out the connection on the top of the starter had come a little loose. Tightened it up and put it back in and it starts right up
  9. I posted a question a while back but it probably got overlooked due to many starter type threads, plus the lack of specific info. Kind of hard to diagnose something based off a described "sound." So, I just recorded the sound I get when I try to start the car: Sound clip If that doesn't work please click here and download it The car had the same symptoms 1 year ago. Same sound and everything. I replaced the metal contacts in the starter according to the thread on this site, which instantly fixed the problem and I was problem free for over a year. The same symptoms lead me to believe it's related to the starter again, though it seems odd since I just rebuilt it a year ago. When I first started having the problem a week ago I could eventually get it to start, although I haven't been able to get it to start at all over the last couple days. I had the battery and alternator checked earlier in the week - they said it was fine. I also tried using a jumper cable AND a hooking up a brand new battery but that did not help. I checked the connections on the starter and they look fine. I tested and saw 10-12 volts going to both wires (the small one when I turned the ignition switch). That seems to rule out wiring/relay/switch problems but I could be wrong. If it is the starter, I'll pull it out and check it out (though I'm not looking forward to that too much), but I wanted to post the sound clip here and see if there was any feedback that would indicate other possible tests or problems this could be before I do that. Is there anything else in the starter that can go bad? Thanks
  10. I tested the 2 wires connecting to the starter today. The thick wire that goes to the battery had a constant 12 volts going to it. The smaller wire has 12 volts when the key is turned as well. Any other thoughts?
  11. Anyone got any other ideas? I plan on checking over all the connections this weekend. Check the power coming from the switch and from the battery. If I have to I'll pull the starter out again but I'm really not looking forward to that Another thing to add: it doesn't matter if I use the keys or push the remote start button on the remote, I get the same result.
  12. Aside from the metal contacts, is there anything else inside the starter that can go bad?
  13. Hi all. When I first bought my Supra a little over a year ago I started having trouble starting the car. I would get the one click problem. Luckily, I found the thread on this forum that showed how to rebuild the starter (replacing all metal contacts). I did that in September '06 and, until now, had absolutely zero problems. The car started the first time every time. Just this week I started having the same problem again. One click and no start. I can try for several minutes getting the same result and then, suddenly it would start again. I had my battery checked today and it showed it at 100%, and proper voltage coming from the alternator, so I don't think that's a problem. Is it possible that the metal connections are already going bad again? Maybe I didn't properly tighten the bolts on the starter and some condensation got in? Or should I be looking at the wiring? I read another post that commented on a starter relay problem - where is the starter relay located? Or is the starter relay the part with the contacts that I fixed? Alternately, could this have anything to do with the ignition? Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
  14. Thanks Looks pretty good without the rear add-ons. I'm thinking I'll have them painted anyway but will leave them off initially. I think this Supra eventually became the one below:
