  1. Started reading this 3 hours ago and just couldn't stop. Way past my bedtime, but what an incredible build. Can't wait to see what SRD do for you.
  2. Is this the car that was parked up in Torquay/Barton for many many years? Drove past this almost every day. Always wondered about it. Lovely looking car, glws.
  3. Recently fit facelift headlights onto a '95 and need to grab some indicators with sidelights to get it through the MOT.
  4. If you still have these I'd be happy to collect from west London.
  5. I hate to do this, but been hit with some rough news and need to consider selling up, I haven't been following prices recently and some help would be really, really appreciated. Make: Toyota Supra Black 202 Model: 5-Speed, Non-Turbo, A02B Torsen differential, Bilstein OEM+ Suspension. Year:1995 Facelift: No Mileage: 40,000 - The GOV Mot tracker has this verified back to 18k miles as of 2006. As for before that, it's anyone's guess as to how legitimate it is. MOT remaining: October 2019 Service history: Bought with very little service history, I've had it serviced on two occasions in my 3 years ownership including belts/gasket/bits and bobs, with a fair bit of paperwork for various small jobs. Car's location: Devon Modifications: Custom M-Tech exhaust, not too loud but a lovely tone with stock-looking pipe. LS400 big brake upgrade, Chris Wilson upgraded clutch, braided lines, sound system, deep-dish alloy wheels, rest is stock. Fresh Michelin Pilot Sports 4 tyres (£1,000) Good bits: Very clean inside and out, nothing outlandish, no dash lights, everything running fine, engine bay very clean, interior painted matte black, looks stock. Was set to be a perfect platform for turbocharging, but insurance never allowed for this to be a realistic option, I never found a quote lower than £1,500. Bad bits: Couple of spots of paint flaking, mainly on the corner of the skirts. Minor marks/scratches etc, small puncture hole in front bumper, but almost entirely concealed by the numberplate (looks like a tow-bar hit it).
  6. I've dropped him a message, thank you!
  7. So the two rings of the crank pulley have seperated (with the inner ring stuck on the car) and I need to source a replacement urgently. The Supra-tax on crank pulleys is pretty terrifying, so ideally I'd get an aftermarket one. I don't suppose anybody could point me in the right direction? A bit of reading suggests there's a lot of things to avoid when buying them (like lightweight, non-dampened, under drive?) so I'm slightly nervous about fitting something just because the seller says it's fine. As always any advice is hugely appreciated! OEM is £200+ I was made redundant about 4 hours ago.... Would this be okay? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Supra-1993-2002-3-0i-BiTurbo-Crank-Crankshaft-Damper-TVD-Pulley/362462973549?fits=Car+Make%3AToyota%7CModel%3ASupra%7CCars+Type%3A3.0i%7CPlat_Gen%3AJZA8_%7CCars+Year%3A1995%7CVariant%3AJZA8_+%5B1993-2002%5D+Coupe&hash=item54647a0e6d:g:JY0AAOSwclVbyd74:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true
  8. I don't understand all the hate for the BMW collaboration, I get that it doesn't feel "right", but even as unshakable Toyota fans, there's countless reasons why this is a net positive that I don't see featuring in enough discussion... Firstly, what makes us genuinely think they could do a better job of it than BMW? They probably could if they threw a blank cheque at it, but obviously that's unrealistic and instead we'd all be whinging about a 6-figure pricetag, but I'm still not convinced it would better the B58, have Toyota or Lexus even made an I6 in the last two decades? Say what you want about BMW reliability or performance/appeal in recent years, they likely know I6 engines better than any company in the world. They've been pumping them out in volume year after year, they've made their mistakes, but they've made massive improvements too, they clearly know what they're doing. BMW 6-cylinders are damn, damn good, and if a 6-speed S58-based 480bhp Supra comes to fruition down the line, it could be an absolute monster, well-worthy of the badge. Aside from the likely scenario that the A90 would never have been made without the collaboration, the cost savings being passed down to buyers is probably enormous. BMW were going to make the Z4 anyway, I suspect Toyota development costs on this were comparatively minuscule, and you know that they'll look to reinvest those savings on improving the platform- this is undoubtably a labour of love on their part. I would be shocked if the Supra wasn't cheaper, faster, better handling, better tuned, and more reliable than the Z4 as a result. Another thing that is often overloocked- we're busy comparing the A90 with the A80 on their merits as performance cars, while completely neglecting to consider the different worlds in which they're produced. Not only were the 90's a very different economic state of affairs, the automotive industry, fuel costs, and consumer demands were in completely different shape, too. If somebody could "re-create" the Supra, i.e, affordable-ish, supercar performance, bulletproof, with a touch of luxury, they would have done it by now, several times over- but here we are. The exact same argument could probably be made for the lack of manual (for now), although admittedly it's a hard pill to swallow... We know Toyota wanted to build this car with its fans/community in mind, we know they want to reinvent their sports car division, and we know they wanted to 'honor' the Supra legacy, why so much hate?
  9. With the prices on V160's I have a feeling a lot of members over the coming years will be wanting to investigate these conversions, information seems quite scarce atm so threads like these (and parts lists) will be total gold. Sounds fantastic and thanks for sharing!
  10. Scrapped my old post before sharing my thoughts as wasn't looking to start drama- but some serious, serious red flags in this thread. Help threads being taken as "for sale" threads, members private messaging "advice" instead of posting it, taking an offer the same day (and without checking out the market as Dnk suggested), and clearly a piss-poor valuation even by ballpark standards. Perhaps posts like these should be removed to prevent this bs happening again, or at least requiring pics/descriptions when seeking valuation guidance. And Rider, if you think people are disgusted because they "missed out on a bargain" then that says a lot. Most people are here to share and receive guidance. OP came looking for "advice on getting a fair price", I think we all know that's not what he left with.
  11. I know there's been some discussion on this, but a thorough search mainly brings up out-of-date stuff. The long-and-short is it seems like getting insurance with a TT or NA-T conversion is completely out the question. I've been hounding 10-15 insurers every few months for about a year now, and am yet to receive a remotely sensible quote. People with converted NA's, who are you insured with and what are your premiums? Currently paying £500 for the NA, a TT would cost the same, yet a conversion would see premiums quadruple (and limit me to only 1 or 2 insurers!) I'm going round in circles now! Is this just a non-starter? Am I saying the wrong things? Talking to the wrong people? Seems quite scary to think you can get NA-T insurance one year, then the next it might just dissappear/double in price! Thanks!
  12. Cheers for your help fellas, did learn a lot from going through the bay with that schematic though, ended up being a core plug breaking seal, new water-pump on Monday!
  13. Interesting, really appreciated. I'm going to go full-stupid question, but assuming this is a loose hose, is just a case of putting the hose back in, and should I be able to do that in a car park without any tools? Just took it for another quick drive with refilled coolant/water, same issue, there's fluid draped all over the exhaust side of the engine. Could it be a water pump fault or can I rule that out?
  14. Still no NA-T, every couple of months I'll swoop around all the insurers but haven't managed to find somebody willing to insure a converted Supra for under £1,400... very, very annoying. Nipped down and checked in my lunch break, the fluids look like coolant, very orange/brown and murky, too... as you mentioned the rad cap is no longer filled to brim so clearly something is unhappy. There's some water pooled on the tray too. Suppose I should have a coolant flush this weekend, reckon it's okay to top up with water and drive home?
  15. Sorry if this is the wrong place, it doesn't seem technical enough to go in that section. Was running late and ragged the car a bit on the way to work, arrived to find smoke coming from the exhaust manifold area (could have been lower but hard to tell) but no one spot in particular. There's oil spillage on the undertray which I hadn't noticed until today, should I be worried/investigate further? Cheers
