  1. Hi everyone. Please forgive my non native English. My Supra is recently making quite loud noise when i steer, just after a drift session i made. I need to do a better checkup but i strongly guess that my Power Steering Fluid level is lower than the normal level. Another thing that is good to mention is that i have done my vehicle inspection very recently with super autobacs in Japan. (They seriously made an horrible job, i will never go there again). In the vehicle inspection stuff, they said that they changed the Power Steering Fluid. And i am not sure of what type of Fluid they changed (So no idea if it is a basic power steering fluid, ATF etc.). Also, as i said, after drifting, as you can imagine i used the handle quite in hard way, full lock left full lock right etc.. So i guess that fluid level went down.. To be sure i would like to replace the Fluid with one of your recommendation. What kind of Fluid would you recommend ? My Supra is a 97 TT with quite high mileages. On the Supra manual, it is wrote to use Dexron II Automatic Transmission Fluid. But i heard that it was very hard to find Dexron II anymore. Would Dexron III or even Dexron VI synthetic ATF would be ok ? If any of you guys had the same power steering noise problem and have any good ATF to recommend i would be glad to hear. Thank you very much in advance. Best regards.
  2. Thanks all for your input. I didn't know that i was going to get no weight gain or even worst.. Thats a bad news for me. But anyway, i will probably need to invest in a LSD sooner or later anyway.
  3. Hi everyone. (Sorry for my bad English) As i am taking level at drifting, i realize that i will probably need to change some stuffs on my Supra in order to get more control. I drift in Japan and most of the people here are using a Silvia to drift, like 90% of them. Personally, i think it looks much more sexy to drift in such aggressive car like the Supra, i feel more unique However, i had to admit that one of the problem of the Supra when it come to drifting is the weight. All the Silvia that drift with me weight barely 1200 kg, they still remove everything unnecessary in the car so i think they should be close to the 1100 kg in general. This weight difference is quite huge when you need to change direction fast. I went for a ride in one of those lightweight Silvia and i have to say that i was really impressed and realized how the weight of a car impact the performances I am not saying that i am going to buy a Silvia, i think they have their problems as well. The overall component quality is just so much better in the Supra for example, i saw many Silvia having various problems, i never had one in my Supra. The previous owner of my Supra already made some changes to make it less heavy. If i look at this guide http://www.suprahardtopregistry.com/WeightReduction/weightreduction.htm My supra now looks like BRW+ To make Drift easier, i was thinking about getting a lightweight LSD. What do you guys think ? What models can you recommend ? What weight reduction in kg could i get by changing it compared to the original one ? Thank you for any answer. Best regards.
  4. Hi everyone, After i bought my supra (1 year ago) i wanted to learn of to drift but didn't know where to start. I then found recently a Drift school not so far from where i live. I think it can be interesting to show the evolution of my driving. So i made this thread! The first time i went, i made many exercises with a cone with no much success. Basically one of the first exercise is to learn how to drift around a cone. The first time i could not achieve a full circle.. i was disappointed but so motivated to succeed. Then, yesterday i made my second time drift lesson and it was a total success! I was able to turn around that cone like 12 time in a row. The second step was to be able to drift close to the cone, and then enlarge the radius by drifting far away from it. I also succeed in this task! After that the second exercise was to do the same thing but in the other direction. (My supra is a Japanese one, so the driving wheel is on the right side). It is easier to turn around the cone when it is close to your door (Cone in the right side when driving wheel is on the ride side). And it is more complicated to turn around the cone when you can't see it well. But after few try i also did a good job i think. Here is a video that illustrate it! Drift Lesson day 2 Day 3 in december!
  5. Ok, some report on the 20w50. After driving my car few times, like you guys said, i noticed that my car had difficult time during warm up. After stalling my engine two times (It was surely because of driving mistake but i am sure that the oil high viscosity didn't help) i decided to change the oil. I went to Autobacs and in the sports oil corner, i saw the Mobile 1 full synthetic 5w40. The Japanese guy at Autobacs strongly advised to me to not go under 10 and asked me to change for a 10w40. He said that it could damage the engine to use 5w. I am not oil specialist at all but, does 5 are 10 that much different in viscosity ? After looking back for more oils, i didn't found any good 10w40 oil, so i just sticked to the Mobile 1 full synthetic 5w40. I drove the car a little bit and immediately found that the rev was a lot smoother with the 5w40. Maybe for my next oil, i'll change to a 10w40 fully synthetic to be on the safe side... Anyway, thanks for your help guys.
  6. I got mine this year at the age of 27. I guess that if you start working at an early age and spare some money you can get one at an early age. Especially if you still live at your parents home. But yeah, insurance and all extra fees cost a quite a lot, so you need to have the money for the supra + some extra founds
  7. Thank you guys. This Supra RZ is still Twin Turbo running a BPU. she's probably around 350HP or something. For the wheels, i am not sure because it was the previous owner choice. After some researches it looks like the wheels are very close to the model Volk TE37 5 spokes bronze color. I have to say that bronze wheels color fit very well with a white body! I only wished that the wheels was 5 spokes instead of 6, but thats just a detail
  8. Edited the first post with 2 new shots! The photographer did a very good job considering it was his first experience with cars.. We will probably make a new session in Hakone (Japanese mountains).
  9. Hi everyone, recently i made a photo shooting of my Supra with a professional Japanese photographer. He's speciallity is to shoot small objects or products for commercial stuffs. So it was his first time shooting cars and he said it was difficult but became a good experience for him. Here are some photos of my Supra on the Gate Bridge (Tokyo)! http://imageshack.us/a/img195/2853/julisupra01.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img221/753/julisupra02.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img543/8027/tomisupra01.jpg ***EDIT*** I was not alone on the road^^ http://imageshack.us/a/img402/553/julisupra04.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img24/1008/julisupra05.jpg
  10. Actually i only use my supra during week end. And my supra is in a garage that is under the ground (Japanese style ) That mean that when i will start it up, the temperature of the engine and the oil will be quite cold. I'am afraid that 20w may be indeed too high.. Anyway, thank you guys for the precisions. That is very kind. Cheers!
  11. I got it, thank you for your help.
  12. sorry, i should have give more precisions in my question. I didn't use a specific bike engine oil, i think i used a standard engine oil. I am pretty sure that i used this one! http://www.alexisoil.com/product/supreme-mo-20w50
  13. Hi everyone, I bought my supra in Japan recently and when i checked the engine oil with my Japanese friend the oil was very dirty. Almost close to black color.. So, he had this engine oil that he used for his Bike, so we decided to replace the oil by ourself. The oil is a 20w50. Its quite different from the 10w30 that is recommended on the engine.. I didn't ride my supra since i changed the oil, but do you think there is any risk of damaging the engine ? Should i change the oil for the recommended numbers or can i stick with the 20w50 ? I would be embarrassed if i damage my 2jz-gte. Since i am not familiar with engine oil, i looked on the net and made many researches. I also looked for 2jz-gte oil thread and i didn't see anyone going over 40. 50 is used for very hot countries like Africa right ? But i live in Japan and i have to say that Japan summer is very hot. I really would like to know what you guys think. Thank you in advance for any help and sorry for my bad English.
  14. Nothing special. Ok i think i've got my answer now. Thanks all!
  15. Thank you guys for your very fast answers! @Westy Yeah, that is what i was thinking about, if the rain can go there is no reason why i could not wash it normally, but, i just want to be sure ^^ @mplavery What a gorgeous supra you have ! Yep, any other pics of the process would help me to understand better i think. But, its not in a hurry, so whenever you have time, it would be a great help!
