  1. I saw a lovely looking yellow supra near littlehampton going past me today.. any one know who it was??
  2. all i did was searched for smic recomendations and found this thread, i have just finished reading and have to say it started off informative and then cracked me up!! well done to the moderators to try and calm it down and thanks to the genuine supra lovers that gave their unbiased opions and honest reviews on each intercooler. just wanted to say thanks to the members that were informative and helpful and no thanks to the people that cant hold a sensible discussion:p
  3. Hi James Just posted a thread on what solved my boost problem. I would say check all vacuum hoses and take them off to do it (or even better just replace them all as they are pretty old now) because when mine was still on it was impossible to see the hole. It's not a nice job and very fiddly but I tend to go for the cheapest option first and go from there!!!! Next I'd check all the vsv valves ( I think there a thread on here that tells you what reading you should have when you meter them out) and intercooler pipes. Good luck and hope u sort it without to much grief
  4. I just wanted to share the boost problem I had and what it was as this site has helped me out on numerous occasions It started with having no power in first gear, you could hear the turbo spooling but just didnt have any power. When I got into 2nd there was a slight hesitation but when the second turbo came online at about 3500-4000 revs it really pulled like it should and the same thing in 3rd. It gradually got worse and loss power in all gears but could still hear the turbos spooling but no boost. It turned out to be a slight hole/slice in what I assume is a vacuum pipe going from the standard BOV to God knows where!!! It was right next to the metal clamp and on the bottom so nearly impossible to see even with a mirror underneath. The pictures show the offending pipe removed and it belongs where I have used a piece of braided clear hose as a temporary fix. I hope this might help someone and would always recommend taking off all vacuum hoses to check for splits as they can be very hard to spot and are usually the cause for boost problems
  5. have just read this thread and although i get the concerns of some over the water running out or the pump failing there are easy solutions to this? i am not an expert but working with refrigerant gas i understand how liquids can be used to transfer or dissipate heat which can only be a good thing in charge air temps? surely its only doing the same as when you drive on a cold foggy morning and your engine quite happily burns all that moisture and goes like stink!!! will be looking into WI very soon and thanks to chris for starting the debate and to everyone else that has posted their thoughts as ive learnt a lot from it :-)
  6. mine was silver and had it sprayed gunmetal grey, a bmw paint code as if any scratches in the future he said it would be easy to match rather than the lambo grigio metallic i wanted. he qouted £2200 and i said id pay £2500 if he spent more time getting it perfect. it was taken back to bare metal, the finish is lush :-) now the bad news..... not near cambridge hes in leatherhead surrey.having trouble attaching pictures so let me know if these work?
