    Just a quick hello

Welcome. With 2 celica's you should be able to nip to a dealers and try out a Supra or two and get to know them a little better or get yourself along to some of the Supra meets. Best of luck with your search. Fwiw, I used to love my Celica's had several St162-ST182/ST185 models (the ones and last of the ones with the pop up lights). Loved the drive, reliable speedy engines, decent ergonomics and equipment and practicality. With the Supra, its a step up in performance (with turbo models), the cars are still as easy as the Celica to drive, on OE 17" wheels I found the ride to be much better than the Celica's, a little bit more equipment and technically more advanced as a performance car. Only downside is, if you use the Supra as a daily driver, it won't be as practical (in terms of boot space even with the seats down) as the Celica but the fuel consumption, IMO, is excellent when driving normally.
  2. Excellent result! and an excellent outfit (Garage786) to have your work carried out by. They really are great guys with exceptional ability.
  3. Another vote for no point in chasing BHP on an NA unless you decide upon a TT conversion or just buy a TT. As mentioned, improving brakes, refreshing suspension components, ensuring the engine is 100% (all vacuum lines in good order, no perished pipes/hoses etc) and giving it a major service using OE parts is the way to go. Oh and good quality tyres.
  4. In addition to the above, I would say, the Supra, whilst being quite big ish and heavy, handles it size exceptionally well so can be driven hard indeed and the increase in weight should not be an issue.

    Which wheel

Just a side note here for anyone whom it may benefit. There are a lot of poor quality aftermarket wheels out there and we see many damaged units on a daily basis at our work place. Also some of you may recall my incident a few months ago, the wheels practically disintegrated into pieces. Its hard to know whats good and whats not but am sure many people will know which wheels are better built and stronger.
  6. Sounds like a good result, good to hear of such satisfaction.
  7. If you buy a tax disc online from DVLA.org, then you can drive around for 5 days whilst its posted to your home address. The way I see it; No tax = You cannot drive and if you do you risk being a police officers b!tch. Option 1 - tax the vehicle online (DVLA website) using your debit card from the sellers home, surely he will not object. Easy and fuss free. Option 2 - leave a desposit to secure the vehicle upon agreeing a deal. Sort out any paperwork and go and collect it paying the balance a week later or so. (This is how I have usually bought all my cars from trade/private with no issues).
  8. Have you considered a custom build job? I.e repliacating an OEM system but having it made from stainless steel with appropriate silencing properties.
  9. Tanabe Medallion Toruing is another, again there is a video on youtube for it.
  10. I am in a similar position to you. I am going to get a Garage Whifbitz twin box unit (garage whifbitz are listed in our trader section). Also JamieP has a video of it on his Youtube account. Shows it at idle and can be alos be compared to a another louder exhaust (HKS?) he has on there.
  11. Dealers often price the cars quite high to get more money from the passing folks who may be interested. It alwaos gives them some extra negotiation margin. However, simply over pricing a vehicle stupidly is just that - stupid. With regards to a Celica as daily driver, I think its a cracking idea. I had 4 I liked them that much! (1x 89 ST162, 2 x ST812 and 1 X ST185 GT4). Very comfy, reliable and well equipped, often carried 4 adults without any major issues on long distances. Excellent fuel economy, decent performance, good boot and amazing with the rear seats down! (I used to have 200KG glass cabinets from Ikea poking out of the back, furniture shoved in the lot!
  12. If we are talking Supra's in general, then I prefer the look of the facelift cars. However, I am a UK spec car man myself and have always found the UK to look the most appealing to me personally provided its not been chav'd up and left stock bodywork wise at least.

    New rear lights

Seen these at rics place when I was there, the amount of effort and attention to detail he puts in is first class. Looking good!
