  1. So, little Update: Keron's guess was correct about the location of the annoying noise (thanks for saving me time on that mate). Unfortunately the damage is not the clip, it's the whole rod that broke, which was immediately confirmed when I drove back from the workshop since..... the 2nd turbo does not quick in at all anymore (Which I did not notice till then because I drove safely in low rpm before the diagnostic was confirmed). Waiting for my toyota dealer to tell me if the needed parts can still be ordered. Not Serene about their quote I'm waiting for the labour
  2. Thanks for your quick input Keron, I'll get that clip checked and come back here if there's more to it
  3. First I’d like to wish everyone here a happy new year. The other day, 2 minutes before reaching my parking place, the car started making an unusual sound. 2 actually : 1.while driving I could hear a slight hiss that SEEMS to come from the gear lever area but… hard to tell for sure while driving in traffic. The hiss only happens when my foot is completely off the gaz, as soon as I touch the throttle, even very slightly, the hisse stops. It also stops even with the foot off the throttle when driving below 30mph in 3rd, 20mph in 2nd and 10mph in 1st (approximately). 2.when I parked the car 2 minutes after what I just described before, I stepped out to open the garage door and noticed an unusual ticking sound on idle, this one is permanent but turns into a rattle after revving the engine (video attached) and SEEMS to be coming from the driver side of the egine bay. Any ideas ? supra engine rattle 01b.mp4
  4. Glad you were luckier than me and also, I'm not surprised that they can sometimes NOT fail, otherwise I don't see how they could still be around ^^
  5. Thank you for the suggestion, I won't have time for that right now but in the unlikely event of a second hearing (I believe/hope my case is already strong enough) I will then do so
  6. Last day if someone is willing to share his experience
  7. Indeed, I'm in France.... not the end of the world but, still......
  8. Hi there, it's trial time ! So I'm raising this topic from the dead. I still haven't heard or read from SUMOPOWER ever since and had no other choice than sue them since they have not complied with any of their legal obligations in connection with the sale. I hate doing that but, here we go : I'm having an audience by paper in July and I am asked by county court to provide any possible evidence and testimony. So if anyone has encountered issues of various amplitude with SUMOPOWER and is willing to make a contribution, I'll be glad to collect your testimonies until tuesday june the 29th. I'm not intending to tarnish their image but out of fairness I believe it's also important that club members know about this kind of behaviour from a professsional dealer and make informed choices.
  9. Finally got the car back from th workshop, I was so used to the old paint covered in swirls that I now have the feeling that the car is wet hahaha. It does look great in the flesh and I'm happy with it, now I need to find the time and place for some proper beauty shots, to be continued Till then, a quickphone picture from my underground garage on delivery day
  10. Luckily it was not this bad : yes I did get some water inside, IE after a heavy rain when opening the rear boot lid there were some water drops leaking from.... god what's the name in english...... the left tip of the big plastic cap that's under the lid, near the boot strut. My cheap emergency fix was to strap a sponge in the right spot haha so no, no rust issue on the boot floor. Now only the sideskirts left and she'll be good to go ! Speaking of sideskirts, I got the oem replica from Whifbitz. I think it's important that we share our experiences here with sellers, the bad ones (I'm having one with Sumo Power and I may soon update my thread here about that) but also the good ones. And the workshop was really pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish of these parts from Whifbitz so if you guys were looking for oem style skirts and were hesitating....... don't
  11. Definitely, there were some blisters here and there and the screen itself wasn't holding on very tight anymore (IE you could see it move when shutting passenger or driver front door). Meanwhile, she's finally in for the paintjob !
  12. Correct, it has been in France for a while now Got a message from the workshop, down the line they found out that, if the car was originally storm blue, it has been sapphire blue at some point in it's mid-age haha. Rear boot lid was rusted beyond salvation but I was lucky enough to find a mint condition one 2hours drive from my place . Driver side frond wheel arch also needs some surgery
  13. yes, I wanted to keep it storm blue for 2 reasons: A I love this shade anyway B since the car is almost fullstock otherwise, and considering the current values, I wanted to stick with a stock color Thanks for the input
  14. That’s probably a bit egoistic and may not be interesting to many people but…. my supra is getting a full respray so I just felt like posting some work in progress pictures here. Was storm blue, will remain storm blue Damaged oem skirts will be replaced by new replica ones from Whifbitz As the car gets stripped down I may bump into some parts that need replacing so I will open threads accordingly. Speaking of which, I have 2 (silly?) questions about the TOYOTA and SUPRA badges : 1.is there a difference between the front and the rear toyota badge (parts number seem to be different) ? 2.are there differences between the new A90 toyota and supra badges and the “old” mkiv ones ? In other words, is it ok ordering new badges from Mr T. or were there specific to mkiv ? (different material, size, color, finish, whatever….). Till then, here she is, getting prepped; to be continued
