  1. Calling all dog lovers! I have an English Cocker Spaniel that travels with me on the back seat of the Supra. He has a clip that attaches his harness to the rear seat belt so he doesn't go flying through the windscreen in the event of a crash. The problem I have is that he loves to see where he is going so sticks himself through the gap between the front seats and lies over the top of the gear selector, hardly ideal! I have tried using a shorter clip but he gets tangled up in this. I have tried various hammock type rear seat covers that try and block the gap between the front seats but they don't work. The usual mesh type guards are no use because they assume you have a 5 door rather than 3 door car. I have seen this on eBay /www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-93-96-FOR-CAR-DOG-CAT-FRONT-SEAT-PET-GUARD-BARRIER/122327437062 and was thinking of giving this a go. Anyone solved the problem of keeping their four legged friend secure in the back? PS Before anyone asks, no I don't want to get a Chihuahua instead!
  2. And there is this one. Not sure about the Thatcham angle though. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?340959-CarLock-GPS-Tracker-Review
  3. Hi Guess it is the fear I get the measurements wrong and have something delivered from half way across the world that don't fit. My current wheels have 18X8JJ and 18x9JJ embossed on the rim. Is that all a supplier needs to sort out replacements?
  4. Hi My alloys are nearly 10 years old and are past the stage where refurbishment would get them back to 100%. Replacement beckons. Does anyone have any good experiences with alloy wheel sellers in the Glasgow - West of Scotland area? Thanks
  5. Yes, but due to the age of the Supra it does not have an OBD2 port so the fact that you have to wire it up using an adaptor enables you to do as I did and hide it under the trim panels under the drivers foot-well.
  6. You can disable the recording of driving data on the phone app. I don't think the unit has any on board memory that stores this information independently.
  7. Lack of signal is the Achilles heal of all GPS devices. Each unit comes with a unique code number that enables you to log into the device using the mobile phone app or PC application, just getting gmail and password wouldn't be of any use to a would be thief.
  8. Hi A quick Google search shows the company was founded in 2014 in Slovenia. Looks like they guys that invented the device got the capital to put it into production. With the number of countries they cover I would hope they will be in operation for a few years to come.
  9. No effect on anything. The idea is that you can plug the device into your teenagers car and give them a bollocking if they go mad on the motorway [emoji2]
  10. CarLock Review I recently fitted a CarLock GPS tracking device to the Supra and having had it for a few weeks thought it would be helpful to share a review with the forum. You can find full details of the unit at the website http://www.carlock.co/ What does it do? The CarLock title is a misnomer; do not expect this gadget to let you stop a felon as they speed off in your pride and joy. It is a GPS tracking device, it will alert you via a smartphone app if the car is tampered with or moved. In the event that the car is stolen you should be able to tell plod where it has been removed to. It also gives you a score out of 100 each month for how responsible your driving is, points are deducted for harsh cornering or excessive acceleration As the unit runs off the car battery it also gives you live update if the battery charge level, useful if the Supra is not your daily commute. The app logs each journey you take showing distance travelled, time taken and plots each journey on a map. It can also navigate you to your car if you are uncertain where you have left it. Fitting The unit is designed to plug into an OBD2 port. As the Supra does not have such a thing you also need to purchase the optional adaptor (£10) which can then be used to power the unit. As I was having my car serviced at the same time the installation was done by my garage. The unit sits behind one of the trim panels in the driver foot well and provides a good signal. You can move the unit between different vehicles or use multiple units to track more than one vehicle. Insurance The website indicates that insurers might offer discounts to you if you fit a CarLock. Admiral, my current insurer, does not. In fact, when I asked them about this they were insistent that you inform them if the unit is fitted as it counts as a modification under the policy. Cost The unit itself retails at £99 plus £8 delivery. Your first month’s subscription is included after which you can pay £5.95 a month or £69.95 per annum. Conclusion I have had a couple of “false positives” when the unit has decided that it needs to report the car is being moved even when I have scheduled it not to monitor but otherwise the experience has been good. You have the reassurance of knowing where the Supra is at all times plus its battery level. It would be nice to find an insurance company that offers a discount on its premium for having one fitted but that was never my main reason for buying.
  11. Got it fitted a few weeks ago and it works very well. I will post a more comprehensive review in the next couple of days. Hope your friend gets his car back soon.
  12. Hi Not yet. Am waiting on getting an induction kit to fit at the same time, watch this space.
  13. I recently purchased an RAC 03 camera that fits over the rear view mirror. Very nice piece of kit but it leaves you with a power cable that goes from the roof liner to the cigar lighter. Question is does anyone have a good recommendation for cable management stickers or black duct tape that will fix the cables to the underside of the footwell rather than trailing all over the place as they do at present? The stuff I have tried so far is excellent at sticking to itself but falls of the car facia as soon as the driver breaks wind (in my case 5 minutes max). Thanks
  14. Hello As promised the reply below from the manufacturer: Hi, thanks for letting us double check if CarLock will work with your Toyota Supra. Your car is compatible with CarLock. Your OBD port is located here: (There is no OBD port in your vehicle, please use power cable. You can read more about it on http://blog.carlock.co/obd-extension-cable-power-adapter/) We advise for your car to include in your order also the OBD Power Adapter. You can order CarLock device with 10% DISCOUNT from the link below: Thanks and have a great day. The CarLock Team If I go ahead with fitting this gizmo I will post a further update.
  15. Unit has its own sim card so maybe that helps. Have emailed the manufacturer to see whether it is compatible with the Supra. Will post their reply
