pheonix gold octane 2.5.2 2 channel amp - someone locally is selling this very cheap and im wondering wether it will be good enough to power 4 alpine speakers - they are the type E 220watts and 40watts rms.

pheonix gold amps are good but not sure if it will be ok to power 4 speakers, youd have to bridge two channels but it may cope,

how about if i were to just run 2 speakers off the amp and the other 2 off the amp on my stereo? would that be any good? do i even need to get an amp for my speakers? as my stereo is 4x50watts and the speakers are only 40w rms.. im crap at sound systems lol

the only time you really need an amp is if your powering bigger speakers,40w rms isnt alot so im guessing there component speakers?the amp will happily powere two of the speakers, will take a bit adjusting to get the sound quality you want.i personally run all 4 components of the stereo then seperate amps for more speakers

ok - Pheonex Gold do great stuff. I got a £400 in line driver PG and it out does my mates Xetec and Genesis by far. THeir amps are just as good. Although not a fan and I do not use them - I dont knock them. As for running your alpines - no way.....

You would not get the best out of them and I would suggest that if you ar going to run 2 from your head unit, you would need an EQ to balance the amp'd and non amp'd speakers. With 4 speakers firing in 2 different directions and 2 different times just spells "distortion"!!

Honest mate - go for a nice 4 channel and enjoy a crisp sound. I got a directed 4 channel. Paid £25 for it boxed as new from ebay and its great!! Really recommended.

Hope this helps. My supes running at 146.3db at the mo so I know a little about it all.

Nice one thanks for the advice. any links for this amp you got on ebay? also are the speakers i have good enough? they sound pretty decent but soon once ive found a sub to suit my demands that will be going in the boot running off a seperate 3000w amp.

Speak to a firm called Dynamic sounds. Tell them that Ian with the Supra recommended them and he should do you a good deal. I bought the 2 of the D2400 mono amps and he knocked £100 off each of them. WWW.dynamicsounds.co.uk. Their number is 020 7252 6061. They are based on Walworth Road, London, but should think he would post out...

I should think all you would need is a Directed amp with 4 channels with about 800W and half that RMS. That will give you 100WRMS which is plenty to run and have good control over the Alpines.

If you need any more help, just PM.

Good luck
