MichaelH
Hi there, I've just got a standard Supra NA and its a great car, but its not very loud? Seems a shame to have that Straight 6 under the bonnet and not be able to hear it! I could be wrong, so feel free to correct me.... But I was thinking a nice induction kit and exhaust system should free up the air flow, give me a couple more horses, and hopefully let me hear the engine I've just bought! Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated! Oh yes, and not firgetting, recommendations on which ones to go for!
CJ
Ok, firstly, it is a straight 6 and not a V6. Secondly, the best induction kit is the stock one. Thirdly, if you decat the car and put in one of the after market exhausts, you should find the noise increases significantly
mikeyb10supra
any of the big brands are good....Blitz Nur, HKS, and RSR are all good ones As for induction, would leave it standard, its miles better than any after market kit
MichaelH
Thanks for the pointers, have amended my post to straight six.... With it being the non turbo, will I negatively effect the performance by sticking a decat on there? Or will it be ok as long as I stick to a reasonable diameter pipe? letmeshowyou
stick to a reasonable diameter pipe. If you go too big, you'll defo be sacrificing a bit of performance on an N/A. agreed on induction kit though. Stock is best!

mikeyb10supra
once there is no flow restriction in place IE no cats, the pipe diameter wil make no difference in how the car performs!! 2.5" is fine On an N/A mind
letmeshowyou
Supra-man - potentially not enough back pressure if you go silly big.
Ian W
Supra-man - potentially not enough back pressure if you go silly big. dammit. i can't find it now but there was a thread not so long ago discussing this and i can distinctly remember someone saying that this was incorrect and it's fine provided you still have the full length of the exhaust....Chris Wilson perhaps? I could of course be setting myself up for a fall and talking utter boswelox

Jim The HKS induction kit wont give you a problem that can be "seen". What is does do (or rather doesn't) is filtrate very well and therefore you get a load of shit entering the engine. wilko
i had an aftermarket exhaust made by powerflow, they also took out the second cat this makes it nice and loud, also fitted an apexi power intake but use a heat shield and a new dedicated cold air feed. cant say i noticed much of a power gain but defo no loss and sweet induction roar. just make sure you use a heat shield and cold air feed or under bonnet temp will affect induction air temp( not good)

dr_blackman
I've been thinking of getting a new filter for inside my stock box, whats best for that or is it worth just sticking to a normal filter in there still?
dini_the_owl
i decatted mine completely and left on the stock exhaust, sounded loads nicer and you dont loose ur back pressure. andy
