Good morning all

I thought that as this will affect most of us! (UK people anyway)

Sarah Kennedy was on about this proposed car tax scheme on the radio,

apparently there is only one month left to register your objection to the

'Pay as you go' road tax.

The petition is on the 10 Downing St website but they didn't tell anybody

about it. Therefore at the time of Sarah's comments only 250,000 people had

signed it so far and 750,000 signatures are required to stop them

introducing it.

This is legit... from the 10 Downing Street's website.

Once you've given your details (you don't have to give your full address,

just house number and postcode will do), they will send you an email with a

link in it. Once you click on that link, you'll have signed the petition.

Democracy in action? The government's proposal to introduce road pricing

will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a

monthly bill to use

it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the

BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a

delivery driver. A non working mother who used the car to take the kids to

school paid £86 in one month.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will

know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been

going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can

probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill. If

you care about our freedom and stopping the constant bashing of the car

driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (link below)

Yes. And despite near a million people signing the petition to beat into the govt "no, actually, this is evil and wrong", they will go "meh, but why should we listen to these idiots, we are in charge and know best" and railroad it through anyway.

Democracy at work  Power hungry nazis interested in nothing but their own personal gain..

Someone stuck this petition to my back window last night, when I got out to remove it they stole my pin number :(

Maybe.

But at least it's been 50 milliseconds since someone alerted me to this, nice to have a break from it.

Funniest post EVAR!!!1

You know what F**k em.

Ill just refuse to pay and install it.. as should EVERYONE else and continue driving around.

If enough people do it then they will just have to scrap it and think of other ways to extract money out of us. :)

Good man.

Mass non-payment worked wonders for the Poll Tax.

Absolutely...

and by the time they force us into fitting them, they'll have modified versions on ebay for 1/4 of the price and include a chipped version that modifies the speed we're doing :D :d

Anyone thought that they'd need a camera in the car to prove you were driving at the time to charge you with speeding...

Or, surely you could say, 'my car was stolen, then returned in mint condition. Prove I was driving at the time'

Life is really to short these days..

Im glad to hear Gordon Brown is being taken to court over imposing the carbon tax without even asking anyone and all of as udden I have to pay an extra £40 to fly that will go straight in to his back pocket.

If it was actually going towards planting a tree Id be more than happy but recently the Gov are trying my good will as well as everyone elses.

I hope it all blows up in their faces terribly, we are a nation that likes to lie over and take it these days and its really not working out for us (the tax payers)

Well its 750,000 now so we ought not to worry then

If the 750,000 sigs thing is correct then cool

I don't think they'd car if 750k have signed it- 1 million people got out of bed to march in London in protest of the Iraq war- Teflon Tony still went on to invade another country.
