Guest mk47
when getting to around 150mph in my car it gets very shaky like im driving on a bumpy road when im not. could this be down to crap tyres? the front ones have decent tread but they are crap brand ones "fulda" or something. they came with the car but dont need replacing yet so i didnt bother. the rear tyres are pirellis though. so could this be down to bad tyres or is it something more serious? imi
whats the rating on those tyres? dont do stupid speeds on rubbish tyres.....(very dangerous)
silvershark44
Yeah my car does this. More down to wheel balancing I think. Check your running even pressures at those speeds as they need to be bang on each side.

hadyn
yeah check your speed rating on the side walls of your tyres, i think supras really need Z rated tyres if your going over 150mph. I think most cheapo tyres in 225/50/16s are only rated to V 140-150mph

Guest mk47
no idea. im looking to change all 4 though in the next month or 2 so hopefully new tyres will cure it. is it more than likely the tyres/balancing then? no other reason why it should do that right? hadyn
my front tyre size is 225-45-17 look for a letter(s) on the sidewall of the tyre by the size, that will tell you the speed rating....

paul mac
we've all done (do) these kind of speeds (turbos of course) but i cant help wondering when one of us will make the national press and end up in prison lol, fulda are a cheap make but as long as the rating is correct should deliver the goods, tell your tyre balancer you are doing a top speed run at a track day and tell him you want the tyres spot on
Guest mk47
i did this on a private test track with a helmet and other safety procedures in consideration etc etc. but yeah i hope the tyres cure it then

Bobbeh
Running undersized tyres on the front I see. You've probably got a balancing problem, but usually this is detected well below those kinda speeds.
Chiefgroover
I have driven pretty much every tyre on a Supra, and rate Bridgestone RE050a in a league above the rest. F1's are awful traction, loud noise and average predictibility when sliding it. Re050a is excellent at all of these. You drive a Supercar, so buy supercar tyres, check the wheels are without flat spots, and get a good balancing job done. Use the proper tyre size also.
