Hello people :d

im having trouble with the stereo in my car, or more specifically, the power.

A while ago the stereo died and i just thought a fuse or something. so checked the back and that fuse was fine. so tried another stereo in and worked fine... for about two weeks. Then this one went off too. so i took the car to a place to test the power income and he said that the permanent live wasn’t there, but the ignition live was. so he temporarily connected it up to that.

Great for like two days then the stereo just went off :search: no idea why. Since then it comes on and goes off as it pleases...

Its driving me mad!

Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated ;)

Thanks very much Steve

i had a similar prob in my golf turbo, it had loads of dodgyt things going on cause of the stero, eg central locking not working and it turnt off when it wanted.

i got a alpine headunit with a new wiring loom and it all worked fine after. it sounds like the loom you have a the moment is abit suspect, as with a ignition live it should work with the car (obviously) and a permanent, so its always on even without the car being on, either will power the headunit fine unless the actual loom that connects from the back of the headunit in2 the plugs of the cars loom is dodgy, eg wires cut and stuck back together/wires connected in wrong places.

if that makes any sense:search: basicly try it with a whole new headunit and loom:)

lol will try that, but it that doesnt explain the random power loss does it?

its well annoying!

random powerloss could be the dodgy loom, as with my old headunit i changed the loom as it just cut out, and the remote central locking stopped working and it would get quite warm!

but who knows!! just hit it abit harder and itl work:p
