seeing as there are a few members on here who also have SLR's. Have any of you got or had a speck of dust insdie the lens. I have just brought a Sigma lens. When I checked it over, I noticed a small speck of dust on the inside of the inner lens (body mount side) it's about 1mm if that from the edge of the lens. I have carried a few test shots and can't see anything on the pictures. I'm just wondering if I should send it back, or keep it

I'd probably send it back.

I would suggest asking the closest dealer of Sigma lenses first. The dust obviously shouldn't be there, but I hardly doubt it alone would be enough to affect the lenses sharpness. But... if the autofocus system is acting slow and focusing forth and back a lot before getting completly sharp, the dust could be the problem.

I'm going to. Rang them earlier, and they are sending a replacement and will pick up the lens i have at the same time. They were really good about it, but then I did not think I would get any hassle from them as I think they are the mutts nuts. Brought it from here

I could not see any dust effects on a load of test pictures I took, but it bothered me a bit with it being a new lens etc

I have got the Canon 350D. There is now the 400D that replaces the 350D which is a 10meg camera (mine is 8meg) but After reading some test reports, there is only little improvement from the 350D. So I'm more than happy to stick with my 350D, and you could get a good deal on a 350D due to the later model being out. You can't go wrong with either a Canon or a Nikon SLR. Nikon have not long released the D40 which by all accounts is a great camera for the beginner
