That sucks. I was picking up my girlfriend and whilst waiting let an awfully potent fart out :o I wound down my window and then a min later after the offence had cleared I went to wind it up again.

However it made some weird noises and refuses to go up atall now!

What can i do? Its bloody 9.00 and dark now :( ANd whats most likely up with it?

As it made weird noises, likely the winder cables broken.

Replacement winder mech (complete unit, you cant buy just the cable reel new) circa £70 new from Toyota, or source second-hand breaker. Couple of guys on here fixed theirs with bicycle brake cable BTW.

Fairly easy to replace, about 45 minutes ish.

Thanks for the info guys. A v nice RAC man came out to help me, and was very reassuring and skilled. Yea Ewen after getting the door panels it was apparent that the mechanism pulling the cable in had jammed up and snapped the cable.

He did an ace job in re-wiring it and tensioning it so that the window stays up :D

Ill get sourcing one of those units.

If any can sell me a new unit for cheap let me know :)

Thanks again for help guys.
