Windscreen rubber and Cruise Control

Hi all,

My windscreen rubber keeps coming away at the top of the screen with the wind at some higher leptons and scared the hell out of me the first time it happened. I take it I need a new one, anyone know how much roughly?

Does the cruise control tap the brakes when going downhill? mine felt like it was today. Just wondering really.:)

Cheers

Mike

I dont think it taps the brakes when trying to keep the speed down, just limits power to the engine to try and not go over the set speed

I could be wrong tho

Ahh right, does it do abit more than just easing off the throttle? It was quite a steep hill and I dont think lifting off would have kept the speed at 70 but I could feel like repeated taps on the brakes, well thats what it felt like anyway.

I thought cruise just opened & closed the throttle... there would be severe safety implications if it had control of the brakes and went wrong  Could it have been the gearbox changing???

For the screen rubber just stick it down with some Loctite 5900 or similar RTV..... I think? That's what I did on my old Jag when it did the same!

Thanks mate I tried silicon which has lasted a few months but I would like a permanent fix. I'll look into the loctite stuff.:)

Def not changing gear its a manual. Maybe it was just lifting off the throttle but felt funny as it was doing it repeatedly. Not sure as it's the first time I've went down a hill with the CC on.

I bought the windscreen moulding for mine last week...

Part No;T75533-14190 Unit Price £33.40

I've been advised that the screen should have to come out to replace it, as the moulding is designed to fit over the inside and outside face of the screen. But my mate (ex Auto Glass fitter for 4 years) thinks he may be able to sort it with out removing it. :)

Thanks for that mate I've just aquired some Dow Corning 3145 RTV so i'll give that a shot. Meant to be strong stuff but we'll see, the silicon lifted at 140 leptons.:D
