Should I turn off the TC?

Guys,

Have RLTC fitted with Digi Adjuster and obviously take it very easy in this weather.

However, a few times the stock J-spec shite of a TC system has kicked in with the Slip Control lighting up and cutting power for the standard minute or so.

I kind of like it as a back up, but am thinking it is maybe more of a risk rather than a secondary safety gizmo?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers, ;)

Greg

Thanks Gamer. I'll look into that but just hit the button for now. :)

Rayman, mine normally comes on if I give it extra woot out of a junction.

Yeh guess its different for you with more bhp, but ive lost traction coming out of a junction before and it never came on. Its bloody quick the supra off the line when it needs to be tho.:D

Facelifts have SNOW mode.

Greg, you just have to get into the habit of turning it off. Mine kicks in too if very severe slippage occurs.

Thanks Pete. I know, I think I'll certainly do it now as it's done it a few times now.

Snow mode any good Pete?

Well that made me look an idiot:p Other than snow mode, does the face-lift TC work in a similar way to the non-facelift TC ? I had a few TC issues in my old Aero TT auto, but not in my current one.

Sorry, I only put it in caps as that's how its written on the button.

I guess it's slightly different due to the electronic throttle control. Other than that I don't know I'm afraid.

Dont pull the fuse in yours Greg, the TC butterfly in the inlet is also used by the auto box to cut power on gearchanges. Just turn it off for now.

Thanks Rich!!! I was about to remove that fuse as I had the box open earlier for a blown horn fuse. :)

Won't do it now!

Yeah excellent advice. Pulling the TC fuse can severely mess up the auto transmission.

Really, well you better tell that to my car. The stock TC in mine was disabled. AFAIK the Butterfly was removed from the inlet in mine so I did not have any issues.

Examples of other who have pulled the fuse with no problems AND they did not disable the butterfly.... !!!

Mine is still fitted with the stock OEM TC not RLTC. When I enquired about disabling it the TC by removing the fuse the advice was don't as it messes up the autobox. Just use the TC off button.

Off for a beer now so I'll catch on those threads tomorrow.:)

I've got RLTC with digi adjuster.Every time i start the car i have to press the TC button on the dash to disenable the standard one and for the RLTC to kick in.

Firstly, RLTC is on all the time (unless set to OFF) and doesn't 'kick in' with when you switch off the stock TC.

Also, afaik RLTC will react faster than the stock TC so you should never see the lights come on.

I'm using a Terminator created strict winter (auto) set-up and it is way ahead of stock TC when set to Wet. From about Oct to Feb I don't set it to anything else. I'm assuming that if RLTC is set to one of the higher slip settings then it could activate after the stock system.

I've had RL for nearly a year and now switch off the stock system without even thinking about it.
