Inferno Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 It says the components are made by Aragosta and Roberuta, so I guess it is these companies you should research :-) I'm still waiting to hear back on prices from Nic for the Roberuta Electronic Height Adjustment "Cup Kits" - should be interesting (i.e. the ability to get in and out of my driveway without scraping anything once I have had the car lowered and an aftermarket front bumper fitted !) Chris Wilson Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 Unless you take them apart and look at what's inside, examine the selas and the shaft plating, and dyno them to see if they have equal ratings and hold up under some duress you are just guessing. HKS sound OK, and look pretty, but the two brand new sets I tested proved utterly disastrous in use. No two pairs were set remotely the same and 3 burst under pretty mild testing. The valving was crude and the technology old fashioned. Europe is the manufacturing centre for good dampers, in particular Scandinavia and the UK. You need to shop at damper specialists, not reboxers, I don't think HKS have ever made their own, and I believe they have shopped widely for their dampers over the years. Bilstein and Koni are off the shelf excellent dampers for the MKIV, both are rebuildable and can be custom valved.
