Spoofs only ever say "Dear eBay member" or "Dear PayPal member" as well, they don't know your username.

Easiest way is to hover over the link with your mouse, the real location is shown in the bottom left of Internet Explorer - if it isn't "https://www.paypal.com/..." then don't click it!!

How often do you recieve money via Paypal, that letter doesn't indicate that you're due to recieve £4.5k, but you've recieved that much over a period of time?...

Anyhow, it doesn't seem to be too spoofy, as it tells you to log into your account and go to a page instead of saying to click on a link...

Its legit. I had to do this recently. If there's been more than £4500 in/out of your paypal account since you opened it, you need to go to the overview, and it will give you instructions. They will put a small amount of cash in your bank account, then you have to let them know how much it was to confirm you are who you say you are.

I've seen more money than that transferred through Paypal before without issue. So why would they send that e-mail on that amount confuses me.

IF IT'S SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE 99% CHANCE IT WILL BE

EDIT:

I had 2 spoof emails from Paypal yesterday, saying that my account had been suspended blah blah blah, it gave links to put the situation right.

Paypal always say Dear Johny etc

Spoofs say Dear paymember etc

Paypal dont put links or ask for login info in emails

Some very dodgy characters out there, watch out :(
